I was thinking about thunderstorms yesterday

is it possible to edit the skybox?
if it is you can have a dark stormy sky and have an animated texture/material of lightning with a bright flash of light in the skybox.

the flash of light might be possible with an animated alpha layer on the lightning and the light behind it so that it is in sync with the image of the lightning strike

might not work or be possible with the current MS but if it is possible to play with the skybox, yiu might be able to work it in

Once there's a moduable Data folder released, then I can do much more with skyboxes, and yeah making flashes of lightning and thunder shouldn't be too difficult, I could definitely give it a try.

They have plans for this?

Yep. Or something like that, with the long awaited next patch...or so I've read somewhere in the Forge (I think).

Yep, on the bugtracker Daegoth said it'd be in next patch. There's a thread in the Forge about it.

EDIT: And so is set_rain!

This sounds excellent, my friend. I can't wait for it to come out. This is definitely on my most anticipated mod list.

Age of False Innocence
Redwall Mod
Calradia 1480 Offensive
With Fire and Sword

Here you go, mate:

Will this mod include polished buildings?
Dunno. What with all that I have right now it's already ~200MB, but I could include a proper module.ini file and let the player download PB themselves if they want, but if I end up making some rightly huge town scenes I definitely will.

I was just reading through your Ideas again when I came across something I must have entirely missed. You said you "might" make different time periods but you did not know how things would evolve? Well why don't you just have early middle ages and late middle ages (and maybe renaissance)  as separate things and you can pick it at the start of the game. That way you do not have to evolve it the player could choose a time period. The bad side is when answering questions about your character being asked what time period you lived in could be a bit of a spoiler for people who liked the realism. But you could find a way to implement it, maybe random?

This would be great if it was set elsewhere from Calradia, but still great if it's in Calradia

Hurm, maybe. I don't want to delve into the Renaissance though, because that'd require too much work. It'd be like a whole total conversion as an added feature which is no good. But choosing the time period at the start isn't a bad idea. It'd also entice people to play more than one game and hopefully keep their attention longer.

To be honest I didn't/don't want renaissance because I hate guns. But its just you said maybe so I said maybe

There's already a way to get a pistol, but that's just for fun so beyond that, no guns yeah. M&B doesn't work too well with them generally, so yeah.

And as per request from someone on IRC a while ago, I changed the thread name so people know what the mod is and don't think it's about wolves.

What are you planning on doing with populations? I was thinking the other day about something I would like in a mod and I came up with an Idea of tavern brawl. How many times have you walked in to a tavern and just whacked someone uselessly. What I would like to see is you actually hurting someone whether with your fists or weapons and them saying "dont do that again!" and if you do then everyone starts fighting. If you win then you have to leave the town (most likely this will be best implemented with blunt weopons or fists, killing would be too far) and your relation with them deteriorates but if you get taken down then you get sent to jail. The only problem is I have to think of a motive or "reward" for it otherwise it just random. But I was hoping you could consider this for your mod, would this be hard?

I think I remember something alike in some mod... I can't remember its name right now, but it had the tavern brawl you're talking about implemented in a way which enabled you to use the chairs and tables in the tavern to beat eachother. Quite fun, really.

This looks very very good. Sort of thing that makes me want to just go out and buy a better PC
