we already knew most of those images and I have the book where those where taken but thanks anyway
also I finished reading the book and some thing to notice
about fortificatios and walls
there is very litle info about walls but its know, especially by the maya, that walls where made but where plain constructions of rocks, nothing too elaborated I think, some maya walls reach 5 meters high,I think is not know how exactly aztec walls where in form or construtction but there is mention of walls made of wood, which I think there is some in m&b so I guess we only need to retexture I think
so if we are going to models walls they would have to be plain dirt wall or just stones walls
also the cities where made whit defense in mind too,and the main central temple was the place where soldiers retreated for the last stand, which I guess everyone knew and is just a simple capture the flag mode to make in the game
also loking at the cities you can notices the squared shapes and the high platfroms where made for defensive purposes.well maybe not exactly but do helped I guess
this one of the few,or the only, image that depicts a walled fortification
as you can see they used the terrain too, like fortificating a hill or using other features for defensive purposes, for example there is amaya citie that seemed to be surrounded by swamps to slow a possible enemy attack
they also mention a bit about the purepecha
aparently there is some doubts about theyr metal weapons, but that is mostly due to few archeological remains and the possibility that maybe there wasnt enoguh metal weapons for all cuz the purepechas had more warriors than the aztec which was one of theyr advantage it seems, also they knew the terrain and all that,so theyr victory against the aztecs wasnt only due to theyr metal weapons
also I think someone needs to make a list of the armors and weapons we are going to put in the game
so far I got to model for the native factions
aztecs armors
cotton vest,around 3
light
medium
heavy
no counting variations like vest whit leather stripes to protect legs or the skirts show in the illustrations above
suits,or combat pijamas, the ones shown in codices
pointy hats suits, the ones whit the pointy helmets
plain suits, whit no helmets but well the player can use a helmet if he wants
no including the back banners
animal and especial suits
coyote suit
jaguar suit
eagle suit
tzizimitle suit,or skull suit, this one was worn by generals and people in comand
nezahualcoyotl suit, the one shown in the depiction of nezahualcoyotl, dont know if it was used during the conquest time but this would have been used by the high lords
thats so far armors not including civilian costume which will inlcude
loincltoth.2 made so far
civilian men tunic,a simple squared tunic tied to the body used by man
priest vest.priest used some vest similiar in shape to the cottom armor
woman dress,a sarong like female dress
thats so far for aztec costumes and armors
purepecha armors
the 3 cottom armors, but we can reuse and re skin or just alter a litle bit
combat poncho, which is like a poncho or other tipical cloth covering that probably was used over the cottom amour
decorated combat poncho whit that weird thing at the back that looks like a potato and a golden axe hair plucker on the chest
helmets being headbands and the feathers crowns
dont know if there is other costume I am missing, would investigate further
civilians clothings
I think we just use reskinned aztec ones
normal poncho
thats so far for purepecha armors
tlaxcaltecs armors
the 3 cotton vest
feathered suit, whit bird back banner or feather back banner
helemts being headbands and feather crowns that may have been helmets
civilian clothing probably the same
not counting spanish borrowed armors
maya armors
the 3 cotton vest whit variations like clothings
the rock salt stuffed one, maybe light and heavier vertions, dont know how they looked so improvisation may be needed
cotton vest whit tunics made of materials like jaguar skin, and capes and collars
feathered suits, like the rest of the groups
since there is tons of helmets for the mayans wil list them too
feathered caps or simple designs, around 3 variations from some skull cap,to bigger cilindrical shaped ones, based on figurens and other depictions
flamboyant headress, being the big cilindrical ones whit big feathers, maybe 3 or 2 variations of those
animal helmets
eagle helmet
jaguar whit helmet
deer helmet
boar helmet, there is a figurine of this one very interesting
deity helmet, carrying one of those big nosed snake like deityes
anyway we will have to pick a source unless we go on a improvisation spree
other helmets
kohaw stone helmet
demon sacrifical mask,for fun
zapotec and mixtec havent investigated yet
but I know that mixtec probably used a animal ranking similiar tot he aztec ones so we can add a variation for the mixtecs atleast in headwear, dont know if the mistecs used pijamas cuz there is no depictions of them using them
zapotec had a bat god so sure a bat animal helmet would have to be made
thats so far right now,I suggest ajoling you take a look at images of warriors in clay figurines or other archaelogical stuff to pick which to base upon what armor and wearing to make and add to the game
I will post my recomendations too
