What exactly are the Khergits based on in this mod? Was there any Mongolian power during the Renaissance?

I'd like them to be Ottoman, to be honest. Maybe I've played too much TEATRC.
 
The Timurids maybe? Or any of the petty khanates that clung on until well into the 19th century. While it seems anachronistic, I believe the old bow and sabre combination was used well into the Napoleonic era (see Kalmuks).

Thanks for the kudos.

In fact, the team effectively shrank to MC_RIBS - who gloriously acts as our chief architect - and my humble self - who act as our chief coder and armourer. I obtain really valuable logistics from Zimke of AOC II. The concise size of the team would actually be beneficial to the progress and efficiency. However, both of Mac's and my jobs are rather exertive and time consuming. This was not really the case when we started, but you know, modernisation is on the fence...
