B Native Musket Era [WB] Renaissance Mod - Beta Released

正在查看此主题的用户

I am ok and the mod development will continue in about a fortnight.

Thanks to all for your support.

Ok, the hiatus is over.

Go to the first page of the thread and spot some changes:

  • Partner Mods
  • References
  • Updated progress table

While Zimke and I finally made progress on the full plate armor, the hookpike remains an issue. I checked the 15th Century Mod again, but I already had the most recent release, and found no hookpike within.

Maybe I'll post some new screenshots, later this evening.

I'm also dabbling around with Swyter's Font Customizer, however, the results are eerie due to bad spacing in the resulting data. Maybe someone with good eye is volunteering, here... lest it'll be part of the next release, only.

Custom Font, first attempt.

If you want to learn how to use Swyter's tool and volunteer to tweak the spacing between the letters, please send me a pm.

Edit: I fear, I need to check with the author of the font, first, so don't be too eager sending me a message.

There'll be more screenshots later. Done for today.

... meanwhile, somewhere near Suno ...

... a new type of mercenaries spotted in the taverns of Calradia:

:!: I want your comment on the gear:

Some of these riders do have leather wear, about 29 counts; some have that tartan plate, about 53 counts. Also, they have either the burgonet at about 42 counts; or a beret at 15 counts. And some have leather gauntlets while some have plate gauntlets.

... more gear in Yalen ...

If you wonder what you actually see, it's a hybridisation of Yamabusi's Highlanders and Broken_Ones full plate armour - with optimized polycount making it finally playable. Zimke was again a great support in making these items work. He contributed some usefull rigging.

That's gorgeous work. Are you going to be doing the Rhodoks as psuedo/cinematic Scots, then?  If so, it'll certainly add a very different visual flair to one of the factions. They'll really stand out among the rest.

Edit much later to add: Some fonts are best used as titles instead of body text when generating a document. When it comes to something like M&B, style is awesome, but being easily read is very important. The font's lovely, but it may prove to be a bit much.

Nate Piekos at Blambot does some great font work, and he marks free fonts with an "F" block beside them if they're free to use for non-profit purposes. Read the license on the page for proper clarification.

Some that might work for you:

http://blambot.com/font_caeldera.shtml
http://blambot.com/font_7swordsmen.shtml
http://blambot.com/font_spiritmedium.shtml

Of course that's just one opinion and a few samples. Other people might find that font works very well for them. It's all very much a personal taste thing, and I'm just one voice.

This looks amazing! Incredibly organized too! Can't wait for this to be released and I'll download!

Hey Bayard-X, I made a thread full of reference photos a while back, I thought you might be interested.

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,191939.0.html

If you click the spoiler "St Johns Feast Parade" You will find a few photos of people dressed in costumes of the early 16th century (dressed as they would have done in 1529 to be exact, during the siege of Florence.)

I hope they are of some use to you!

Then I am really afraid to disappoint you. We intend to have the Calradian Scots only as mercenary units. Currently, the Rhodoki troops are more like the one of Italian city states of the late 15th and early 16th century.

However, you'll find, that the outfits are quite special enough. Maybe I'll post some screenshots later... I feel that the Rhodok and Swadian troops are finished except for the exact balancing. I want to concentrate on North and Vaegir units in the next couple of days.

The resource is impeccably readible. However, the translation using Swyter's awesome tool knows some incoherence, perfectly known and discussed and resolved in his thread. I am just too low on time to fix the issue by myself. However, by the time I finally get the ok of the font's author, I might alocate one afternoon for fixing it.

Hey, thanks! I added it to the mod's useful links.

Damn it! It looked so lovely and I really wanted to run amok in a skir... ummmmm. I'm going to go have a beer. A manly beer!

No worries. If I really need to play a Gallowglass, I'll just set their equipment to 'merchandise'. Also, they were very much infantry troops.  I'm guessing they were given horses to balance out the traditional Gallowglass fighting technique of using throwing spears and heavy melee weaponry. It would be interesting to see them as a more archaic unit, with their mail and heavy swords & axes... but on the flipside, those models are perfectly designed for the later Highlander image. And a good long blade, like the latter-day basket hilt claymore or Scots broadsword, a targe, and a pistol would fit the look very nicely and create a very flexible unit.

All of that's no more than prattle and throwing out an idea. From what I can see you've got plenty of your own ideas, and they're shaping up to be something awesome looking. I swear, there's three or four mods on the go right now that, if you guys were to release them too close to one another, my wife will divorce me.

I'm sure they're awesome. All the visuals you've shown so far have been top notch. Very impressive stuff.

Concern withdrawn -- and extra points for finding a font that's based off of period handwriting.  Nice!

 Wow, thanks, man! That's a sort of flattering one doesn't hear too often.

Yeah, it also took a real long time to investigate and find it. So your appreciation made it worthwhile.

@all: Just one concern:
Is a mod more like private or like non-profit use?

Thanks a lot! I'm going to have a look! I guess this will help me doing the other factions.

(I have to admit, yesterday I rather tackled doing lord characters due to being far too tired.)

 Thanks! There's also some blackened plate gauntlets, but I forgot to put them on.

 Welcome back!

Those articles have some really awesome troop ideas. The Irish one in particular had the vibe of a very cool faction to it.

I think those kilts you've included in the game are going to be a very popular addition.  If they end up going on a faction instead of just mercenary troops, there's some very cool potential in a troop tree based off the Irish forces of the time. (Out there, somewhere, is somebody shuddering because I linked pseudo-Irish fantasy troops with pseudo-Scottish fantasy troops)

"Just mercenary troops"?

This
                  is
                                        RENAISSANCE!

... i.e. the age of Condottieri

Having some more awesome mercenaries than regulars is some sort of a feature.
