its best to include the Mamluks instead of the Ayyubids

I thought the same but Seljuks were vassals of İlkhanate Mongols on that era so there will be no Seljuks if i do so. Maybe i will add Abbasid Caliphate as an adittional Arab faction.

Looking forward to this already, I am learning to do scenes if you need help or playtest, I got a ton of free time till atleast october

There will be seljuks, just incorporated into the ilkhanate. Perhaps give them a few lords who only recruit turcomans.

The Seljuks didn't really do much in the crusades anyway. The Syrian part of empire collapsed almost immediately before the crusaders arrived and the successor states were never reconquered. The Abbasids certainly didn't do anything during the crusades. At least, nothing that warrants adding them as a faction that moves armies around.

A really interesting period would be the La Maqam period (1099-1150). Around this time Egypt is a bunch of divided states, the Zengids are conquering the independent cities of northern Syria and Mesopotamia, and the crusader states are allied with various atabeg princes on their borders. Warband doesn't handle big unbalanced factions very well, and trying to depict the Byzantines and shrinking Ayyubids might be difficult, so this earlier period might be a better option for you.

Thanks for information, i was thinking a period between 1200-1230.  I've completed Ayyubid,Seljuk,Mongol part of my research. Can i write you to ask more? Here is Ayyubid recruitement;

-------------------------------------

                              Bahriyah Memlük
Julban Memlük
                              Jamdariyah Memlük

-------------------------------------

                              Shuj'an
              Jaridah -    Faris            - Abtal
Ahdath -
              Muttawi-ah - Thaqlah

--------------------------------------

Kumah al Kurdi

--------------------------------------

Mamluks from castle, Kurdish Kumah's from City and others from villages.

And here is the map;

There is always a place for the ultimate crusades mod, good luck with that !
Isn't the best period before Jerusalem fall around 1180, in 1200 1230 can be good too the crusaders try to reconquer Jerusalem but as said the factions can be unbalanced. Maybe (1099-1150) can be interesting too.

That is....a very....very big map.

If I were you I'd focus on a much smaller theatre of war. I imagine the map the crusader:way to expiation team is in their OSP. A map that big....honestly....it's a bad idea. Don't overstretch yourself.

In 1099 ad world was like this;

1100_Southeast.jpg

As you can see there are many seperated Turkish states in Anatolia. Also Fatimid Caliphate wasn't strong enough to resist Crusades on that era. Saracens will be very weak if i do so.

This is a sketchy map for show the locations of factions. Purple for Byzantines, turquoise for Turks, red for Crusaders, yellow for Ayyubids, light green for Mongols.

Not if you balance it right, and don't force all the crusaders to be at war with all the Muslims all of the time. The state of Mosul was probably more powerful than all the crusader states combined in 1100, but it didn't attack them very often because it had no interests down there.

Similarly the Fatimids tried to form a treaty with the crusaders, and the crusaders attacked Egypt several times in the early period, but neither side was strong enough to completely subjugate the other. You could represent this by giving the crusaders lots of castles (one of the reasons they stuck around for so long), and giving the Fatimids large city garrisons. You could even simulate the various riots between Bedouins, Turcomans and Nubians so the Fatimids aren't overly aggressive towards the crusaders in the early game.

This is just my personal opinion but I think once the mongols arrive, crusader history becomes boring and difficult to represent. Warband works best when there are many small factions with interplay between them, but when the Mamluks and Mongols were around, it was just two superpowers fighting it out with the crusaders hardly participating at all.

I don't think some of the stuff for a 13th Century mod would fit in a 1099 setting even though a 1099 setting would be interesting. Anywho I'm linking my osp which has some Byzantine items.
