somehow I don't think mounted recurve-bow archers will be relevant for 13th century England... or any of western Europe.

its actually a mixture of late 13th century items, mostly from Western Europe
the mounted archer is a turcopole from Eastern Europe, so he can be ignored

A tapestry says nothing really. Tapestries were made by hearsay by nuns mostly who had no idea what warfare was actually like. The image is also not contemporary to the times of the conflict in question, judging by the art style and frame of reference for the King in the crown. But in regards to England's archer history, mounted archers did exist, but in battle they would dismount and remount if they had to advance or retreat. Almost like a modern day mechanized infantry unit.

Jeah thanks again

But Horse Archers existed:

... unless Medieval artists had no idea of how to draw lines of men in a prospective  Wouldn't be too shocked if those two were meant to be simple archers rather then mounted archers

EDIT: Also, that's no tapestry, that's the Morgan Bible

My mistake. My other critiques still hold true.

But they existed in Central Europe !
