**Beyond The Wall is a modification for Mount and Blade: Warband. Beyond The Wall (BtW) focuses on the struggle to the north of the wall
Even though the authentic quality of the mod of the Game Of Thrones: Song of Ice and Fire is important to me, I have chosen to take an approach more directed by the series and gameplay design, and therefore have made some decisions that do not completely correspond with the story. I do however plan to (and already have) put alot of work into both the graphical as well as the (game)mechanical fidelity**

So, what is North of the Wall exactly?

North of the Wall features a survival gamemode where you have to fight off waves of invaders (similair to the Invasion mods).
You could compare this mod with the quite successfull zombie mode from the Call of Duty series. In fact I get alot of the inspiration from these.
I however plan to expand things here and there and make it a bit more complete. At the moment I have 4 factions (3 playable) planned.
Note: Other factions could be placed in later. The 4 factions are listed below:

The Night's Watch: Bretheren of the wall and sworn protectors of the border of the northern realm.
The Lannisters: Men under command of the Lannister family (Lord Tywin Lannister)
The Starks: Men under command of the Stark family (Lord Eddard Stark)
The Invaders (name is certainly subject to change): The invading forces North of the wall (not playable).



So, where in time is this mod?

As I have said already there is no real story authenticity so the characters' timeline will overlap with eachother.

So now, the big question, when is this done?

At the time of writing I currently have the Gamemode itself with multiplayer functionality finished
(with special thanks to arch3r for his swift assistance with the implementation of his source code) 

The 4 factions are "finished" I still have to create the custom items, maps props etc. Not impossible, but very time consuming :wink:

On the serious note, I try to keep this as small as possible, preferably a one man project. I do however sometimes ask for the help or advice of people more skilled than me with, for instance, modeling or 2D art, scripting etc. If you are skilled in any of the following 'professions', and want to help, please reply on this topic or pm me, and I will add you to a list and contact you when and if in need of help.

-Sound Artist/Music composer
-Modeler
-Texture Artist
-Scripter
-Server host

Also if you have any ideas or suggestions for this mod, please, don't hesitate to post them, I will look into all of them and if used, credit you.

Here is a 'small' screenshot of some slight progress, I will keep updating this page whenever there is some notable progress.

Update 1.0
The first weapon has been finished, it is the arakh. The arakh is a doth'raki weapon (one handed weapon).

you might wanna accumulate some more experience in another project before starting the work on your own  :wink:

And as Morth says at the top, there is no real authenticity to the story, its more fun to play with a dothraki weapon sometimes than using a normal sword all the time :razz:
 
As I have said :razz:. There is not much to no story authenticity, the arakh, is a weapon that can "drop" from the random weapons chest. As with my ability to create this mod, I have not created any mods (for mb:w) before, however, there are no more processes in the creation of this mod that I do not understand /  able to do. I have spent a couple of months studying tutorials, but I appreciate your input nonetheless :smile:

And jacob, what could I do without you :grin:


The choice of either a stark, lannister or member of the night watch are as of yet, based on cosmetics. I am however planning on giving each "faction" a slight advantage at a certain weapon skill.

EDIT: What would you say is the typical wildling wep? I am thinking of making a logo that I can use on all pics and on the signatures I will eventually make :razz:
 
At the moment I am working on stone weaponry, mainly stone axes, spears and maces. (basic stone-age weaponry)

Ok, thanks :smile: Now gotta find a good spear, or make my own :razz:
 
Think I might make 3 logos, one for lannister, one for stark and one for the night's watch, all for different signatures, and you could watermark them on the update pics? :razz:
 
If I didn't know that those two were different people i would be thinking that it is two photos of one person.
Anyways, enough with the off-top.

Got a logo to put on screenshots and Signatures, I took a night's watch sigil and but an ice texture background on it, and a border, simple stuff :razz:
