I would say some things seemed better back then while others don't. The cities appeared way more lively and I like the taverns were integrated into the scene.
That being said what we have now versus back then certainly doesn't seem like 5 years of improvement. What did 60-70+ employees do for all these years ?

I know, I don't get it either. I thought one of the main priorities was to integrate things to do in towns.

Scrap most of it & start again. The current game we have is in development for 3 years at best. We know that they changed the entire UI 3-4 times for example.

This was like the second time it got scrapped right? The first time they tried it on the warband engine and didn't liked it(because duh, it's pretty limited) then they made this new one from scratch and scrapped it as well like you said and then BOOM... New engine.

And also it took them a while to learn the new engine, since it was more superior than warband engine

The UI is a bad example, it's pretty much standard that the UI gets changed several times during development.
You would never start development with a finalised UI.

I think he meant it as a reference to the UI in the video, which is painful to look at, as even the warband UI was better.

It seems like they are going into the opposite direction now, which is a shame. I get that talking to NPCs from the campaign map makes things faster, but if there is no reason to visit towns they are a wasted opportunity. Let's hope I am wrong.

Makes things way much faster. As much as i hate that the towns are no longer appreciated you have to admit that it wasn't that great to stay in a loading screen just to take a quest..

As I said above, the UI during development serves as a layout concept. At this point buttons and stuff are just there to check if the coders successfully implemented the functions. The actual look of the UI are just images provided by artists. If the layout changes during development artists would need to redo a big part of their work which is why they only create detailed assets when the UI is more or less finalised.

You change UI sure, but changing the ENTIRE UI from scrap 3-4 times isn't something you would do

How do you know they changed the entire UI? The majority of effort goes into coding, and while I am sure that changes are made and tweaks are implemented, what we see are just a couple of pictures drawn by an artist. I can change the UI a hundred times within a few hours. Sure, I would just do colour and filter in that time, using a few brushes for decoration would take longer. But you need to realise that there is a huge difference between design and functionality. There is a reason development teams are split between coder, designer, and artist.

Armagan said it

They changed the entire UI 3-4 times, that's the only thing he said
Which could mean anything. And even if they changed code, art, and design it's still perfectly normal.
If you are in prealpha you don't need a finalised UI, but if a coder implements a new function there needs to be a way the designer and QA can test it. That's why you create placeholders everywhere during development which get replaced later.

The combat looked a lot cleaner and smoother ngl.

The graphics look a little more dated than the current visuals, but who cares, I don't play a game because it "looks nice".

I want to play the 2015 Bannerlord. Gameplay > graphics all day -anyone who says otherwise is a shill.

Now I bought this game in march without knowing anything about the franchise. I had a friend playing it and looked up and saw the trailers/screens and decided to give it a shot.

If that video was shown I'd have not even bothered. I don't see any improvement other than more npcs are walking around? I sure hope it's not the zelda CD-i level of voice acting that's attractive to you.
