How is this superior? It still has the same hp system as warband, the AI pathing in the city i'll agree it's better but it's a showcase so they weren't going to show mistakes right? What else, the fights look exactly the same as warband, character creation and inventory has different UI and even the campaign UI is different. And that voice acting(which wasn't great and i see why they did not use it) was maybe for a different story than what we have that they scrapped. And the map is really weird.

The Voice acting had much more life and realism, and the editor was apparently superior, the characters looks more real, nowadays both the character we create and the ones in the game look like puppets. What we see in the video It was supposed to be perfected, not replaced by something worse.

Plus, the video doesn't show that much, it could really just be reskinned Warband with higher res models. When did they say they redid the engine? I think that set them back a bit. On the note about March, I really think they didn't expect a global pandemic so I'm not too mad if it gets delayed, the Taleworld's developers surely have family and lives outside of game development. They said about a year in EA back in March, if we go by that the release will be in 3-4 months. I'm not too familiar with game development timelines so can't really complain either way.

Honestly I don't know which is the bizantine mod of the video... but it is what I expect the final product should looks like that BTW we don't have yet.
 
@Gandamula , Before Callum, Taleworlds' PR was Capt. Lust. He was the one who amateurly put voice to that video teaser...

The game is bad right now but **** me, that looks about 10x worse
 
City and Tavern look way better i give that, that the maid in the tavern actually fills drinks with sound, and the city that people are walking and talking makes it feel alive. That and Voice acting. I still feel that their explanation why they cheap out on Voice acting is a poor excuse... "so many voice lines to record that we just won't do it" There are games with more voice lines that have done it. Afaik Enderal, a mod for skyrim, has more voice lines and all of them got voice acted in 2 different languages. And that "mod" (much more a full price experience) is free of charge
But besides that there is not much shown that is different tbh
 
I like the fact that the tavern doesn't require a separate loading from the city.
I guess they separated them for performance and to allow for "placeholder tavern" while there only is one for each culture instead of one per settlement, though.

Honestly the game has improved for good compared to that video, and if you're asking for the voice acting... That voice acting is terrible lol
My only complaint is that the character creation now feels very limited and you can't create certain types of faces, the one in the video looks very rough, but I don't think we can create that Connan face in the current one, it feels like it's limited or something

It just seems really random. Like yeah, the second guy sounds kinda threathening but i still don't understand his words properly. Not even gonna talk about the first guy...
 
Wow quite an improvement. I never would've purchased this game if it looked like my ps2 games.
 
Voice acting is really the last thing I care about. It's very costly, doesn't add that much and makes modding much more annoying. Also it's often redundant as people read faster than they speak, so you usually skip half the spoken text anyway.
Having pseudo-speech (that is, well-done background noise or some sim-like blabla from time to time) is okay for immersion purpose, but that's it.
