OK, This is a disappointment for me, but, the mod goes smoothly and all that, until I get into a fight with westerns. Is this some weapon or something that the westerns have that is a really high poly? 'Cos when I look at Samurai in battle it goes fine, and I think its a particular weapon or armor that a captain has because It is only on certain western units....  :sad: Anyway, theres another thing, The partys that are called, "Warriors of the rising sun" are enemys to the main Samurai faction...Is this a bug?

The Dukes mod and everything else runs fine, just the western armor is wierd...(runs slowly)
 
Firstly; congradulations on making this! It is downloading as I type! Second, I think the Imperial Musketeers from Rise of Legends would look incredibly cool in this game, and this mod gives them an excuse to exist. Nice work!

It is probably the rapiers that slows the game....I was too generous on the smoothing tool, and as I have a quite nice computers.....

About the Warriors of the ...being an ennemy, thatis not a bug but something I just forget.... :oops:

Look, no offence, but you have to remember that most people here don't have quite nice computers, and if you want to release your mod then it should be compatible for the majority... otherwise there is no point. How many polys is that sword. More importantly, will you change it or let someone else change it??

If too much people complain about it, of course I will change it, because I want it to be played by he majority.
But, I'll maybe change the items only a bit,because I really see the difference between a high poly sword and a low poly one. And as my work is more a try to upgrade the look of the game, it bothers me to have ugly meshes...if you are familiar to my others mod, maybe you found that I have always remade my items, from  version to an other I always tried to improve their look.
But now it leads to this icompatibility : my love for smoothing versus the lack of good computers owners... 
But I know there is a balance to find, and I'll try to find it and improve my skills.

But n an other subject : I am really looking forward critics on the gameplay. Does it work or does it play weird ?
It is still unbalanced (because I only worked a week on this mod ,using Dukes Mod as a frame) but has an interesting dynamic I think. 
 
holy ****!! I have a nice computer too but **** 10 000+ poly models are bound to lag anyones pc! One model (the command rapier) is 12012 :shock: polies! ****, nice models anyway, I doubt I'll play it much because of my own mod-work and I'm not into the whole asian thing :???:.

EDIT: lolz even the bullet (a flying mesh) is 240 polies :razz:

I can't understand how anyone could put that many polies into a weapon. That gothic armor I'm making is unlikely to go past 25000, and it's both much bigger and ridiculously ornate. Plus I don't even plan on putting that version in game (unless someone with dual 8800s asks nicely) - it's just for texturing and normal mapping.
 
That's a darn high poly count.  :shock:

Is it possible to join the western forces? Renaissance Pikemen + Arquebusiers > Samurai (IMO of course)

A few comments:

- There could've been a few more classes to pick from.

i.e. Western Empire:

  - Captain ( High Leadership | Rapier & Pistol )
  - Arquebusier ( Good at Firearms | Dagger & Arquebus )
  - Duelist ( Good at Swords | Greatsword )
  - Halberdier ( Good at Polearms | PoleAxe & Dagger )
  - Cavalryman ( Mounted Melee | Lance & Sabre )
  - Dragoon ( Mounted Range | Sabre & Pistol or Arquebus )

      Land of the Rising Sun

  - Captain [or something to that extent] ( High Leadership | Katana & Bow )
  - Samurai on Foot [or something to that extent] ( Good at Swords | Katana & Wakizachi )
  - Bow Samurai [or something to that extent] ( Good at Bows | Bow & Wakizachi )
  - Yari Samurai [or something to that extent] ( Good at Polearms | Yari & Wakizachi )
  - Heavy Cavalry [or something to that extent] ( Mounted Melee | Nodachi & Yari )
  - Light Cavalry [or something to that extent] (Mounted Range | Bow & Katana )

- Partners [NPCs] that complement the class you have chosen.

  - Melee Classes might get Ranged Partners
  - Low Charisma get High Charisma Partners
  - High Charisma get High Int Partners
  - Ranged Classes get Melee Partners
  - etc.

- Different names for the towns

I just realized how much poly are my items...

I tought at first that the complaints were only because of the computers some of you have. Sorry.
I have just begun to remake the rapiers, so expect to see a new version soon.

Since I've seen the screenshots of this armour I dream of it ! Imagine my heavy swordsman wearing it, weilding their zweihanders, slashing through samurais flesh...

When you'll release it, I'll make two version :eek:ne for the owners of kick-ass computers (mine, by the way, is just a mid-ranged one....and everything works well even with the battle size changer set to 200)
                                                          -an other for the rest of the community....(poor, poor little things  :wink:)

I am thinking about making each Western Empire parties lead by a "hero captain". A guy who cannot die and wich you can recruit if you rescue him from an ennemy party.
I haven't tried it yet so I don't know how it goes.
Mercenaries will be added.

In the dukes mod there is also a barbute wich is 10000+ polys (shouldnt be doing this at work, heh  :eek: )
 
No...sorry.

But as the basis of this game is to fight on battlefields against armies and that the AI doesn't allow sneaking, I don't know how to justify to add ninjas. They were assassins and spies, not warriors ( maybe I am not right but, pleeaassse! No historical debate on this subjec in this thread !).

Also I don't have a nice ninja suit ready...
The only way of justifying to have a ninja would be a suit your character wear when atempting to sneak in ennemy towns (but if you are a Western Empire captain that would be strange  :???:) .

Next move will be to find a way to change the arenas' weapons attributions ,specifically in oriental towns because for now they all look european.
