Big thanks go to AndreusAs, as this mod is based on Battle for the Imperium resources. I am looking to assemble a team for this project, I primarily need Scene artists, but also 3D artists, 2D artists, Coders, and Environmental Artists for the world map. If you have any experience in these fields say so in the Discussion channel.

Hyperborea Prime, a Frontier World situated in the Hyperborea System of the Outer Reaches Sector, Segmentum Obscura. It's climate is one always on the brink of near total freezing, but a temperate belt in betweem the southern and northern hemispheres exists which experience an average day temperature of 20°C, but drops below -40°C at night, making night lethal to most life. This cold drop -- Known as the 'Feral Winter' to the natives, and 'Frostfall' to the settlers -- Is responsible for a lot of the strife on this planet, and makes it impossible for the ill-suited to survive long.

The temperate zone is a stark contrast to much of the planet which is primarily formed of arctic oceans and desolate frozen wastelands. The Temperate Zone on the otherhand is a warm belt composed of rolling hilly planes, volcanic lakes, and dense fir and pine forests. The forests and volcanic lakes is where much of the planet's life dwells, including rich and varied game which the planet's Native and Settler population sustains itself. The weather of the temperate belt can vary greatly, from light downpours to relentless torrential rainstorms, to even freak ice blizzards which can flay flesh from bone. Machinery seldom lasts long on the planet, even the vehicles of the Astra Militarum fall victim to any number of issues, forcing those that have tried to tame the hostile world to adopt practical ways of getting around -- Including horses.

The Hyperborea System is composed of Hyperborea Prime and it's meteorite-formed moon Hyperborea Minor, Hyperborea Secundus a low atmosphere barren world, Hyperborea Tertiary a small desolate planet close to the sun, and the heavily volcanic exo-planet Ionia which was for a time host to a vibrant Feudal Society, before the planet was rendered barren and desolate by volcanic activity. Hyperborea Minor has undergone an indefinate quarantine to contain a virulant blight, rendering much of Hyperborea Prime's PDF stranded in the planet's sprawling military complexes. The Voidstation 'Maelstrum Indomine XVII' which hangs in Ionia's orbit is where the system is governed from.

The majority of the Settlers of Hyperborea Prime originated on the harsh Industrial World of Vostroya, primarily miners and surveyors who were sent forth on the Mechanicus Explorator ship known as Azov VII. Those who braved the cold unforgiving void to reach Hyperborea Prime were sent there with the intent of exploiting the rich metallic ore deposits which rested below the surface of the planet. But the expedition had not gone to plan, as the harsh climate and uncooperative native inhabitants made any mining efforts too costly to continue with, and with no plans to send further colony ships to Hyperborea Prime soon the whole venture was abandoned and forgotten about, leaving the colonists to fend for themselves.

Civilian Life on Hyperborea Prime is limited, harsh, and at constant battle with the bitter winters that claim the lives of the old and young alike. The weather on the planet wears away at machinery with it's torrential downpours, and brutal frosts which cause vehicle parts to freeze up and seize. The settlers on Hyperborea Prime have none-the-less managed to carve out small settlements for themselves, composed of wooden cabins surrounded by thick pallisades to keep out marauding natives and the Dire Wolves which hunt in packs as small as 4, to as large as 100. Those that live on the frontier and outskirts of towns are typically hunters that live in a similar way to their urban counterparts. The chosen style of settlement for ruralites -- Known as a *khutir* -- is composed of a singular wooden lodge, surrounded by palisade walls. Those that live on the rural frontiers of Hyperborea are also known to be exceptional horsemen, and breed large horses said to be of ancient Terran origins, supposedly preserved for tens of millennia by breeders of these exceptional animals.

The planet is not entirely abandoned however. The Rogue Trader Dynasty De Vedare who had discovered the planet decades ago had carved out a lucrative business hunting the planet's native fauna for their abundant furs, and pirates from the Calixis Sector bring with them valuable comodities to trade for food and minerals. Many of the original expedition from Vostroya became farmers in the temperate zone growing valuable produce, whilst others became hunters in the employ of Rogue Traders who trade furs and venture forth into the unforgiving frozen wastes for more exotic game. During the war against the secessionist Severan Dominate, the moon of Hyperborea Minor was transformed into a bustling training facility and munitions storage, and the powerful void station Maelstrom Indomine XVII was deployed in orbit of the Feudal World of Ionia which became seat of power for the whole system, ruled by the Merchant Prince Sigmus Sigennius.

The Settlers of Hyperborea Prime are evenly split between the Cult Imperialis and the Cult Mechanicus, with the Governers and their officials leaning more towards the Cult Imperialis, and those who originated from the forge world of Vostroya preferring the Cult Mechanicus, however one thing that cannot be said of the settlers is that their faith is weak, as each man is devout to his faith whether it be in the Emperor or the Omnissiah. However, the Native Inhabitants cling to their ancestral religion, and continue to the worship of their Primordial Gods, even those that have been civilized and inducted into the ranks of the Hyperborean PDF.
