Well I've added you, maybe some day in the near future we might be able to gather 4 people to play 2v2s! :Þ
My Steam is in my profile, if you're short one person on a weekday night (GMT) then hit me up.

Linked Steam now correct if anyone wants me. Just play nice.

Do people here prefer using tube or rocket artillery? My Czecho-Polish deck uses both countries RM-70s, and I like TOG-1s.

Patch is out. Increased accuracy for low-tier tanks with bad range and for low-tier tanks, glorious autocannon of deisgn 2A42 gets justice and finally enjoys the same range as capitalist minicannons (well, only on high-end BMPs, but progress is progress). MG3 got slight nerf. Vikhrs questionably buffed - increase in killing power, decrease in range.

And autocannon recon should be easier to detect when firing. So less ninja Bradleys and BRDM-3s. Hopefully.

Well, it depends on what you use the arty for. Tube arty (high-end 155mm: Ondava, Archer, Caesar...) is the best at actually killing targets (promoting playstyle of heavy recon finding high-value target to destroy with them), lower tier tube arty (the one with 30s aiming time) is not good at all, 122mm tube arty is just waste of points, HE rocket arty ( for example Czech RM-70) is good at assaulting cities as it lowers morale of troops there, but hardly ever kills someone. Cluster rocket arty (for example Polish RM-70) is for sniping CVs and shooting into forests where enemy prepares. Monstrous MLRS (Smerch) are good for those who pray to RNGesus and ATACMs is for insecure, bullied and unsuccesful people who cannot find a girlfriend. 120mm mortars are very very good at everything, but cannot kill anything with more than 1 Armor value. Burrito is good because it nearly insta-stun.

Rocket arty is very supplies-heavy.

The price tag is pretty reasonable when on sale.

In my opinion yes. The main addition is China, Japan, ANZACs, **** Korea and Best Korea to the game. Then you've got the maps which offer quite a nice change of scenery, but also have a lot more depth than ALB maps. This is due to better use of hills and the addition of amphibious units.

The "big" selling point when it came out was the Naval aspect, however since the scale isn't really appropriate for naval engagements it doesn't feel very well done. And in an otherwise very authentic feeling game, it feels a bit out of place.

But if you don't expect much from naval combat (Naval landing however are great fun when done well), it is worth it I would say. If not, pick it up for a tenner when it comes on sale again.

EDIT: oh and if you like SP, the campaigns are much better this time around.

What's new in Red Dragon?
I have both European Escalation and AirLand Battle is it worth the price tag?

Stuff swims. That is maybe the best addition. Maps are a a lot nicer.  Minors are viable thanks to coalitions.

Gameplay is different, arty is completely different.

I hope that Eugen makes up their minds about what they want plane-dropped cluster munitions to do in Wargame 4. Because bombing a town with microexplosives should really do more than reduce an infantry unit's morale by a point.

I never liked how cluster bombs worked in Wargame. Good against light armor - oh boy, as if most things weren't - but they won't reliably do **** to anything else. I can see why they wouldn't want them to gib infantry, because infantry doesn't need another plane counter, but they should inflict casualties on them in the open.

I have discovered the world of cheap T-72s (T-72M/T-72A to be precise). Granted, you dont have 2275m range, stabilisers and that much armor or rate of fire, but you have 4HE on a 55pts tank that can go 60kmh and can survive at least some punishment. And when they kill one, you can immediately buy another.

Wargame will be getting a new nation:

The Netherlands.

More HATO scum. Yugoslavia cannot into relevance. Grumble, grumble...

They are a paid DLC. But considering how much of support RD was receiving for free and given how much AoA was a flop, it is imho okay from Eugen.

Anyway, as to what interesting things the Netherlands have:

Upgraded M109 (aka the old-ass howitzer) that is on par with other high-end arty of the game (Ondava, Caesar, AS90)
Korps Mariner 90 - Special forces who - unless I am mistaken - have the greatest anti-infantry DPS in the game, apart from flamethrowers, grenade and Spetznaz-like units
Vuurploeg 95 - Fist team (akin to that ERYX team or SMAW team) that has Dragon 2 and thus, supposedly, 2HE attack with 1925m range
M752 Lance - tactical missile (omgwtf). Pinpoint accuracy 45000m-ranged 20HE (ie. 1000kg bomb). Thanks Obama ATACMS, can we have S-300 now?
Leopard 2A5NL - W. German superheavy
Leopard 1-V - some weird downgraded Leo 1A5 (aka the best tank in the game).
Leopard 1-V Verkenning - the above, but reconaissance version. By stats it seems like the most OP weapon in NL arsenal. Very good optics, 65pts, Leo 1A5 with 2 less FAV. ZTQ-62G with better cannon.
UH-64A TD - Apache with double the Hellfires but without rocket pods
UH-64 Escort - Rocket pods-only Apache for 65 pts.
F-84F - another. goddamn. zuni. suicide. plane

Some AMRAAMS, no 90 line infantry (Poland and Czechoslovakia are NL buddies are now), poor recon infantry, Gepards, bad IFVs (15pts basically-BMP-2-without-Konkurs but with 1750 range), bad supply truck.

The balance patch is nice but I don't know how well the Dutchie DLC is going to do. Maybe a DLC that added new units I could deal with, but with this DLC adding only one minor nation, it's going to either end up breaking their promises regarding loan equipment even further (and we still lack a German Eurofighter, among other desperately-needed imports/collaborations) to make sure they're relatively balanced, or they're going to end up being as **** as Denmark. And I certainly wouldn't pay money for Denmark, low-tier spam decks aside.

Well, we will see how the W. Germany will work now since you cannot drown the enemy in Jägers' MG-3 fire anymore. All in all, I think HOL-GER could be a working coalition.

Dutch have also apparently reintroduced Blufor (GER-HOL alliance) helo spam as they can mix their cheap Apaches and expensive Apaches with German recon Tigers and back it all with super-good ECR.
