So far, Warband has surpassed M&B's Metacritic score of 72, scoring 76. I'm sure there are many more reviews to come but so far all the reviews bar one have scored the game over 75. I'm hopeful that the game, once all the reviews have been written and submitted will score an 80 plus Metacritic.

After playing BOTH SP & MP I think Warband should get 80-90
Did you only play SP for five minutes? It's full of bugs, no way does this game deserve 80-90, hell there's multiple parts of the game where you get a simple text message saying "Not Yet Implemented" or "No text" when you try finishing/doing some quests.

As well, a few important needed game features aren't in the SP either, we can't move our courts and take fiefs from player faction lords.

since i got warband i haven't done anything else, my character is almost 500 days. I love the combat, especially the mounted combat. I love the sandbox quality of the game. There are a few things that are frustrating, like kinda weak lord relations mechanics. but most of my problems are being worked on. I never played the original M&B so i dont have the bitter feeling that some have about not enough added for SP.

So far my biggest problem is that i recently heard that with each patch you need to make a new game to take advantage of some of the fixes, which is really annoying considering i have spent almost 500 days working on this save. I know you can export and import your character but that doesn't give you your items, army, feifs, and companions.
It's like we said in our preview - Warband is a huge improvement over the original game, but we'd have to wait for a sequel in order to see anything really new and exciting (aside from multiplayer I guess)... the only problem is though, is that this IS the sequel, apparently. It's slightly misleading, but then the description pretty much confirms it's the same game anyway. If you loved the original, you'll love this, and I'd recommend it to new audiences as well. A highly-addictive, realistic and immersive game for you to get involved with. Now all they need to do is fix the camera panning.
Hit the nail on the head imo.

The camera panning line is a dig at all the unfinished bits still sitting about in SP.

The problem with metacritic is it tends to include the marks awarded by the likes of Gamespot and IGN without listing how much the publisher actually paid them for the mark

On Gamespot, Warband gets 7.5 ("good") from the same guy who gave the original 6.0 ("fair"). Still complaining about singleplayer lacking world-building depth, being too open-ended and such.

I give the game a 90 in multiplayer.  I don't play single player.
You're missing the whole point of MB games.

I don't think so tim.

If you want to play against the computer, that's cool, but i prefer human oppenent and a lot of people bought the game because of the multiplayer.

I'd give it a 7.5 all together.

Yeah, I think that's a fair score -- 8, tops. Anyone saying Warband should get a 9 or 10 simply doesn't understand rating systems. The level of polish for that kind of mark just isn't there yet. The metascore (77 now) is a very good result, and the devs should be extremely proud of it.

People seem to think that anything less then an 8.5 isn't worth buying -which, in many cases, due to price, it isn't.

For $30.00 I would expect anywhere from a 6.5 to an 8.5, and Warband's right in the middle.

Yeah. A mark beginning with 8, or even 7, is by no means bad, if it's your kind of game and the price is right. It just means that it's probably a bit rough, and not for everybody, which is obviously the case with Warband. But if WB manages to turn a nice profit, and the devs continue to work hard, then hopefully one day they'll be able to make the M&B system into the kind of game it deserves to be and get a 9 mark, or even higher!

That's a fair score. Those that don't consider purchasing a game that scores less than an 8-9 parceled out by such sites are simply missing out. A genuine shame.

Usually i give a lot about his opinion: honest (not sponsored) reviews.
He gave the original game a PERFECT 8/8. (link)

And he gives Warband a 5/8 (link), mostly for the 2 critical points:
- expansion ? / price just for multiplayer.
- bugs.

IMHO that shows a lot.
I discovered at least 10 bugs in the first hour playing Warband, most of them could be fixed with minimum effort.
That's says a lot about Taleworlds QA, but I tell you: NO OTHER publisher/developer would get away with this.

Don't get me wrong, i love multiplayer and the game is still addictive, but that doesn't justify anything.
What really saves Singleplayer are the mods. Without them, the game is NOTHING and not enjoyable.
The Devs should not count on that for future releases.

Usually, i don't care to give 10$ more for an Indi-developer.
But honestly i, the next time Taleworlds releases a game, i will treat them like any other publisher:

- mistrust in the first place
- read reviews before buying
- never buy on release day
- wait for a special on steam (thats a lot of cash lost).

Sad, but their special bonus is used up.

I think 80  is max/reasonable for a buggy, unfinished game. Im glad critics gave it an average of 77 anyway.
