Warband Sound Error/Problem

So recently after reinstalling my Windows Vista, my sound screwed up in Warband.
Whenever I'm playing I get these random cracking sounds and the sound is disorted and delayed and god knows what. It makes playing absolutely horrible and I can't even think about playing Warbnad like this anymore.
It has to be a software problem cause nothing like this happened with the previous Windows installation. I've tried updating drivers, ticking and unticking the Enable Sound Variation in the Configure screen, reinstalling and checking game integrity etc. Nothing. Any suggestions?

Is this on Warband 1.15x or earlier versions? The new 1.15x round of patches has bugged sounds (if you've missed that, see the thread on the patches in The Guildhall)

Was before the 1.5* patches as well.

Also, just for your information, the problem only occurs in Warband. I tried it with the normal M&B and everything was fine there.
