It is now possible to support WSE2 development on patreon.
We need more mods supporting WSE. So it will be possible to advertise players to support WSE2 development. Modders are few but players can help a lot. I plan to publish submod with WSE features. At first it will run on Vanilla and WSE both. So players will not be forced to migrate. The installation of WSE should be as simple as possible. Many modders don't think about WSE because they are just lazy.

I can run any mod for Warband with WSE2 without any adjustment?
Unfortunately no. For a part of modules it is enough to set module specific settings in module_config_template.ini. But WSE2 uses its own rendering and shader brf format, so if mod uses its own shaders, then author of mod should edit and recompile fx and package resource_shaders to brf. Check WSESDK for more info.
 
K700, out of curiosity, would it be possible for you to add support for shader techniques to have multiple passes? I know Dx9 has support for it, but Warband is written in a way that limits us to a single pass. Or, alternatively, I don't know how other engines accomplish this, but to being able to apply something like an effect/overlay shader on a per agent basis would be huge. An example would be like Skyrim having burn or freeze effects over the top of their base shaders.

It's not a priority, I wouldn't dream of asking someone to learn out-of-date rendering techniques for my benefit. It would just be the perfect hook for me to finally pull up my Native stakes and move permanently into the WSE2 camp.

Another dream feature would be being able to affect global variables inside postfx. Currently we can pass changes to global variables to the normal shaders, but postfx is static, which while I'm sure there's a reason, is very annoying.

Also, looking through the WSE classic source, I noticed the lighting header had directional and spot lights and all their variables already listed. If we had operations to spawn those lamp types, I would love to pitch in and patch the existing shaders to include support for those as well. Even if they were just static, we could bake a lightmap at start up for those static lamps and leave the point lights as dynamic.

Just food for thought. I am by no means an expert, and I have no formal education for HLSL, but I know my way around it enough to do simple things like that.

The game hasn't finished development yet. Developing a tool like WSE for it at the current state, with all the patches upcoming, would be a quite stressful task. You can read back at WSE how much work it was for cmpxchg8b when Warband was getting updated and that was probably like licking a lollipop compared to doing the same at Bannerlord :lol:

I don't know too much about Bannerlord, but Harmony and Butterlib seem to be libraries for extending moddability.
 
In the 200vs200 custom battle, we saw a 20% increase in the frame rate, but there is a problem with the frame rate dropping sharply when looking at the cries of victory gathered after the end. Just looking at a lot of it, the frame rate drops. This is not seen in vanilla. The top priorities for wse2 are bug removal and multi-core optimization. Others are secondary.
I'm reluctant to apply it to mods because of bug optimizations.

Not sure if reimplemented already: In Vanilla M&B there have been two additional bow animations for mounted agents active, ready_bow_mounted and release_bow_mounted. Perhaps they can get triggered again for mounted agents with bows, either by default or via an itcf-flag.
