Didnt know Veagir Cav needed a nerf, also poor Rhodok Cav not able to use Long Awlpike anymore  :iamamoron:

According to those implementing the changes, they've been nerfed as most of the other units shield skills have been buffed, so foot shots etc are harder to do.

Pure bs, I don't mind a change over long awlpikes and nerfs on other classes, but don't ignore a class that has been OP since the start of competitive. The problem about this class is not the chance of dealing foot shots constantly and stuff. It's the accuracy, absurd damage and draw speed ALL AT once. Can't remember if server-side changes can be applied to balance this matter while making it visible to the player without downloading modules.

Hope this Awlpike change is not applied to any important tournament but tested in some minor first, and potentially that Vaegir archers get some kind of archery nerf instead of boosting the only weakness they had, reaching them in melee.
 
If u get shot into the foot as inf you hold your shield wrong. I'm not even sure if shieldskill matters in regards of footshots but w/e. I don't disagree with the long awlpike change either but as yona pointed out it's pretty weird to buff a class that usually punishes cav when cav get nerfed that much.

Making it so archers do less is a bit odd, decreasing accuracy or something is better than making it so the only time archers can hit someone is if someone's shield is down or they're looking away, archers would just become boring if they can't do some neat toe hits, having a sarranid shield being able to block like a board shield aint 10/10. The shape of the shield should determine the shield skill. Boardshield big = higher shield skill, sarranid shields smol = lower shield skill.
 
do you mean how the shield skill impacts the visualisation of blocking the shots? It's a little bit funky ye but remember Swadia have same size of shields and that's how it is for them.

Vaegir and Sarranid inf having worse shield skill than some archers/cav is just a joke and left them incredibly vulnerable to shoots directly in front of them or javs from people barely to the side of them. It's been an obviously better change for a long time now.

Archer melee buff is just a minor buff so they actually have some chance vs anyone with armour, mostly will apply to closed maps where archer influence in relatively small.

Vaegirs will still be OP on open maps yes, but that's not these changes fault - they always dominated.
 
Yeah true, thought the tip of the heater came lower to the floor than it actually does.

it would shorten queue time aswell though
 
My mates and I were throwing about some suggestions so I thought I'd bring them up here:

1) Allow parties to be made so you can play with your mates on the same team; but not above 4 players, not allowing for clans to just destroy casual people with 8 players - which leads onto my next suggestion.
2) Say clans do wanna practice with their whole team, create a separate lobby and server for anyone who has a party over 4 players, specifically to allow teams to practice with one another.
3) Most times you're waiting 20 minutes+ for a game, and you'll get to 15/16 and someone doesn't accept, most likely cause they forgot. Maybe create a warm-up server so players who're waiting for a match can practice or something, then somehow have an in-game notification pop up saying that your game is ready, I dunno.
4) I don't like draws, can we include a tiebreaker map? (Not Winterburg, as OGL pointed out recently after a game, it's surprisingly not great - sorry).
5) Increase the accept timer to maybe 8-10 seconds, I've sometimes missed it cause I couldn't alt-tab quick enough.
6) Create some sort of balance in the lobby - with the pre-chosen classes, I've been in teams where there's 6 cav and 2 archers - so you end up fighting for the classes in-game and end up playing a class you don't want to.
7) On open maps, perhaps increase the cav limit? It really restricts your tactics and setups always being 4-2-2 - it gets boring really quickly, having that ability for one more cav would make things interesting; if the strat gets annoying, people aren't afraid to tell you to change class.
8 ) Have a separate lobby for a 5v5 option, so you can get quicker games and less waiting time for people who want a quick game.

That's all I can think of for now - also apologies if it's not in the right place, I was lazy.

Some nice suggestions there. Don't agree with 7 or 8 though. Sure people aren't afraid to tell others to change classes, doesn't mean people will listen. I'd rather same old same old than idiots playing a class when a different one is needed.

On number 8, it's kind of either do 8v8 or 5v5 because I don't think you can do both with the current number of players for mm.
 
Yeah the class limit is a difficult one. With regards to the 5v5 though, I think you can have both; cause I reckon more people would actively play if they saw a reduced waiting time for 5v5, but then with that you'd have less people waiting for 8v8, but enough to have at least 1 active game going and thus less waiting time - I'm not sure it's all theory at the moment. Best way to see would be to test it.
 
Yeah one thing about the awlpike situation is the fact that if a swadian inf dies the other teams cav can pick it up and use it but Swadian cav can't pick it up? seems a bit biased in my opinion as I've already had this played against me today.

That shouldn't happen. The edit WBMM is using is simply adding "can't use on horseback" to the long awlpike. It should make it impossible for any cav to use one on horseback. Short awlpikes are still usable for all cav though.
