***EDIT***I've added 3d screenshots on pages 3 and 4.

I've been playing warband in NVIDIA’s stereoscopic (3d) mode and it really brings medieval combat to life.

There is nothing quite like looking down the length of the crossbow. Arrows whizzing close by looking really fantastic and I nearly fell out of my chair when an arrow passed right by my head (I tried to really duck), I still cringe when I see them come in.

Riding on your horse you feel like you could reach down and actually grab the mane or when you are charging down someone you really feel like your spear/lance is sticking out in front of you. I usually playing in 1st person mode but if you playing in over the should mode, when you raise you sword over your shoulder it looks like it is sticking a few inches out of the screen which is a cool effect.

Storming a castle in 3d, words just can't describe it well enough; it's that cool looking and makes the whole experience more immersive.

You need the special 3d glasses.  I can't see how this can be recorded without special equipment

But if I am not mistaken, photos can be taken for stereoscopic view. I'd like to see one example or another.

I know about this and I'm jealous, it sounds fantastic.

But would you say it could be a little distracting if you were trying to win a multiplayer match? Or does this immersion give you an advantage?

Either way, for singleplayer it must be stunning.

No you don't need special equipment, if you have a 8800 card or better and are running NVIDIA’s latest drivers then you are most likely 3d capable (check NVIDIA’s control panel for the stereoscopic tab). You do need 3d glasses though which you can get off of eBay (I paid 3$ for mine). Make sure to get good hard plastic 3d glasses that wrap around to cover your peripheral vision.

You need a special player to play 3d vids and Nvidia has one but for some reason none of my vids play in 3d.

I've never played warband MP so I don't know. It does take a bit of getting used to (you have to train your brain to see 3d well) so I would not try 3d MP with out getting used to it first. That being said I don't think it will give you a disadvantage once you are used to it except maybe the little scream you'll let out when an arrow flies by close to your head, man that is freaky real looking.

Nevermind, forgot to set the convergence.

Yeah, I loved the first one in 3d, just epic, try laying seige to an archer heavy encampment.

Just OMG

need a special moniter which costs about 400 and graphics card has to be compatible

No you don't, your thinking of Nvidia's Shutter glasses 3d system which requires a 120mhz monitor and their 200$ glasses. This in not that and it comes with all their newer Nnvida drivers.

If you're talking about the OP (which is mine) you can get the drivers off of NiVidia's site if they were not already installed with the 197.13 drivers.

I wonder if there's a way to do this on Radeon cards. Someone told me there's a driver for this but he was a bit of an idiot, so I dunno.

ATI has something called eyefinity, it's a little different.  You can set up multiple monitors and have the game display on all 3 or some such.  I know that much, not sure if they have the 3d glasses thing or not.

So, it is a feature that doesnt require a special monitor?? cool

I am interested in this too, but I am a Radeon user!
