Is there no way to garrison troops there somehow?
My Fief is constantly under attack and I barely dare to leave it's vicinity since I am dependant on the weekly income to pay my troops and I slowly run out of money. I am playing as female so I had a hard time getting the village and the King refuses to give me a castle instead :p.
Any solution to this?
Or asking the other way around: How can I get a constant income as a female character? I already have an ironworks, but the 157 Denari a week, don't help much. My costs are currently ~600 Denari a week.
I sided with the Kingdom of the Nords and we are at War with the Vaegnir and Swadia atm.

This is a wrong board. This is for Mount&blade with Fire and Sword, not Warlords Den. I suggest you post in there.

And to your problem, if you have Diplomacy you could enlist patrols to patrol around villages and towns you choose.

Sorry about the wrong forum, clicked the wrong one.
But where/what is Diplomacy?
I don't see it in my list of Skills.

Oh, Im sorry.

Diplomacy is a mod, a very good snigleplayer mod. It doesn't change much stuff but its amazing.

Link for Diplomacy

You can't garrison your fief.
I recommend increasing income as first priority. I would lower headcount until the army can be paid out of the single enterprise, then go and make money (by trading, pillaging whatever) and invest in more enterprises. Don't bother to defend the village, it is not worth it.

Villages are useless IMO since its hard to defend them and the AI loves to target "your" village, the best way to get a castle is capture it yourself and then request it be given to you.
Enterprises are a solid source of income, dyeworks(yes the most expensive) in all but a few cities(1 or 2 rhodok and swadian towns don't turn a good profit for them so go tanneries/oil press in them). Rivacheg is the first place to set up an enterprise as it gives a guarnteed 1000 denars a week from a dyeworks
Killing sea raiders is also very profitable don't forget the smaller your party the more loot you get and you also get more renown

Hey, thanks for the Hint .

I have decided on another route now and will help a female claimant to the throne of Swadia. Not less difficult :p, but I actually managed to conquer 1 castle with 1 village which pays for my troops pretty well.  But your hints still help, so I will actually emphasize on getting a few enterprises up an running.

I really hope there will be more possibilities in M&B 2 for economics like Farms etc to get food or guards for Villages.
