Resolved Warband Activation Denied

this CDKEY was purchased in 2010.

it has been left unused for years.

just now I was told "activation denied" when trying to activate it on a non-steam launcher (warband version 1.174)

can some mods please help me find out what's going on?

I downloaded the installer from taleworlds and installed
it's what it is without mods

it was bought from www.mountblade.com.cn in March 2010

the retailer told me yesterday it was either because I tried to activate it on an older version or because this CDK got banned

neither is possible. the game version is 1.174. I haven't used this CDK for years. usually I play MB on Steam
