Warband, 1.131: how do I get my companion back?

I sent Baheshtur on a mission to gather support to increase my character's 'right to rule', and that was almost 100 days ago. In my companion report, everyone is shown as "under arms" except him, and the report shows that he is expected back in "0 days." I am going out on a limp to say that something is amiss.

I've spoken to ransom brokers, and there is no option to ransom any companions, so I am assuming he was not captured. I've spoken to travelers to try and locate him, and apparently neither my character nor they think he is missing ("which companion would you like to know about?"..."nevermind!").

I didn't know these missions were so bugged (I've loaned out companions to lords in the past and always got them back, I thought the missing companion bug was all fixed...). How do I get him back?

This mission works normally for me, but you have to stay in one place for some time to let him have a chance to catch up to you though. Traveling around the map and looking for him may just make him chase you and never catch up.

I already tried that. Basically I just waited in a city for a week. When I send these companions out, the companion report tab will show the number of days they will return. But at some point the report becomes "0 days" and they never come back. So far this has happened for two types of missions: the gather support for RtR and emissary mission after I start my own kingdom. Both Baheshtur and Marnid are now missing and the report tab shows "0 days" for both of them.

Same exact thing happened to me, but I sent out 3 people at once.  Haven't seen them back for over 50 days, and I tried spending a week at one location.  Really hoping I don't have to reset.

Seems like it's impossible to stay 2 whole weeks without everyone in my army getting pissed and leaving.  Not to mention the endless requests from the ladies to go visit them in the same town--does that count as moving around?  I hope not.  Still hoping someone has an answer here.  Thanks.

1.131 is full of glitches... i have decided not to even TRY doing anything with warband until a new patch is released.

Actually, I've experienced this problem since 1.127, so it's not isolated to 1.131. I just thought it was fixed in 1.131, but it seems to be one of those enduring bugs.

In a new game, I've just got a companion back from a RtR mission. I sent Jeremus out immediately after hiring him from a tavern, and kept tabs on the companion mission screen to see when the counter would turn to 0 days. Originally the counter displayed "19 days" but on the 9th day, it displayed "0 days." As soon as I saw that, I waited in the closest city and he showed up.

Right now, one theory I have is that the companion won't show up if you don't wait in a stationary spot on the day s/he is suppose to return. If this does not happen, everything from this point on gets screwed up. It's the only explanation I have as to why I have never had a companion return from a mission until now, because this is the only thing I've done differently.

Not only did I lose companions on mission, but also after a defeat. Asking tarvellers in taverns doesn't help as they don't give their names.

Yeah it happens to me too sometimes

I assumed the lack of name is simply because they are not in the world.

I want Bunduk back  . Had a siege where I would take alot of losses, and he cried like a *****. So I sent him away and then fought.

Can you imagine this: just after telling you all that companions get lost after defeats, my lost companion Alayen was found by a traveller...it took me however some weeks constantly visiting taverns. So, when you lose 3 companions, a traveller might know the place of one or two of them, but not all.

This.

If your army is at full capacity, your companion will still return, but when s/he asks to rejoins the party, you will have no option but to turn her/him down with a "try again later" message. Then in the companion mission menu, it should display "xxxx is attempting to rejoin the party", not "expected in 0 days" and never heard from again.

I've done it before in 1.31.. I just kept playing as usual and didn't even check on him and he just returned a week or so later. So maybe if you stay in the same spot it's bugged, but I've never experienced one not returning as of yet.

Maybe it's something with the report that bugs the characters, something else to test out.
