To be honest, this is the first time ive enjoyed warband multiplayer for a long time.
I got real bored of it for a while, and this new patch has fixed a lot for me,  no longer do all fights end in a kickslash for example.
 
I hardly use kick but now that I am using it (testing with my Bro on a LAN connection) I see little to no difference.

it's just a kick nothing special. We did great in M&B (not warband) without kick. If anything kick was a gift and it;s not to be taken for granted.

Except for the part where he was comenting on the slow and choppy attack animations.

Maybe relax on the "kickslash hate" and focus on posts.

Agreed, well said. I too manage without kick, i rarely use it anyway. In my honest opinion, i thought the kick in 1.127 was overpowered anyway, besides, when ppl say that more of their attacks dont even do damage to ppl... well thats what armour does, its meant to protect ppl, not used as fancy dress. :razz: You cannot kill a guy with armour with 2 hits with a sword, (depending where and how you hit them). This mod has just tidied up the game for the better, nothing more.
 
Maybe somebody should post a reliable tactics against a shield turtling player, that doesn't involve draging the fight forever untill either he made a mistake or his shield breaks. Don't get me wrong, long ass fights can be fun. But it could also be annoying when your opponent does nothing beside holding down right click and back paddling.

Off topic. The idea of kicking somebody in medieval armed melee was in deed pretty stupid, though. They should've replace the animation into a shield tackling/bashing instead.
 
Devs went completely the wrong way with kicks, now they are unreliable and glitchy, the kicks were fine in the last version except for one detail, length of Stun!!, the problem wasnt the kicker but the guy being kicked, if it was tweaked so the guy being kicked ALWAYS had enough time to block a kickslash then kicks would be a greart part of the game, now we have stupid kicks that look all wierd and dont work but sometimes still do instadeath kickslashes from time to time.

I have said this many times before but the Devs don't seem to listen, iron out the bugs please, people payed for this mod!

How about something else beside ganging up or run away? What if you ran into him alone? Or if it's a deathmatch where you got no teammates?
 
Well if he's only holding down block and backpedaling then he isn't a threat in any of the situations. And he'll be halfway across the map in no time, so why bother?
 
So basically you're saying there's no counter against shield turtles in one on one sittuation then?
 
If he simply holding down the block button and never attack, then there's not much you can do except to break his shield, but in this case, you can constantly attack, so the shield will break quickly.

If he still attacks you every now and then, you can either use some feints to out-time him, or use fancy footwork to get behind his back or surprise him. Or, do something stupid and silly, make him lower his guard, and kill him when he least expects it.

They don't work that well against good players, but hey, good players can probably avoid kicks too.
 
Well actually I was mocking because every player will attack and not backpedal at one point. Even if they have to go to the map boundry to do it. Oh, and chamber them.
 
Anyone know if the vassal marshal orders were fixed?

Up to and including 1.27 you could as vassal only suggest one or several ally lords to capture a castle/city. They'd start the siege, you'd help out or not but either way the place would get a garrison if your faction won the battle.

As vassal marshal there's no similar suggestion or order (suggestion dialog option then replaced by orders) so you have to start all sieges yourself, and regardless of how many lords and troops join the fight the city/castle will have 0 troops in it after you take it.

Also, as vassal marshal I can order a lord to "go to x" if x is owned by my faction and is threatened and they'll enter that place even if it's under siege or if battle has already started, thus reinforcing the defending side. As marshal only I can only say "we're under attack enemy can be repelled go to" but that'll only make the lord patrol around the city, even if it's under siege or battle has started. Useless.

Also, if I lay siege to a city/castle and ally lords spontaniously accompany me (standing right next to me and the castle/city) they still don't join my side in the fight when I attack.

These are very annoying issues making faction expansion very tedius. I'm disappointed they weren't fixed as there are no drawbacks in fixing them and many have posted about them.
 
1.130 and kick changes:

There is no punishment for playing aggressively. - Facehugging w/1h axe is too effective. Constantly backpedaling looks and feels more lame than kicking the overly aggressive player. I've backpedaled long distances to take advantage of range/timing. I preferred the kicking, win or lose, the fight ended sooner and didn't detract from the gameplay as much.

Whereas using spear+shield was always a bit daft in a 1v1, now it is completely ineffective. Way to throw a wet blanket on my favorite style Taleworlds, thanks a lot.  :sad:

In 1.27, kick was probably too effective and overused. However, I do not support the changes that have been made because I feel they have removed a fun part of the game. I could approach a recognizable player, say Doomcraft for instance, and use his predictable kicking to successfully dodge and score a very satisfying kill. (Arguably, over 50% of the time I'd dodge the kick and land a hit) Likewise, gameplay is more enjoyable when there is a defense against facehuggers that will just strafe around behind you if you release "S" for even a moment.

As an alternative: I thought kick was too effective in 1.27 because it had stupid long range. Kick would be perfect it was reverted to 1.27 but with only 75% of the original range. I base my opinion on equipping a 1h mace/club and dueling extensively with kick pros. (In 1.27)
 
The thing is, you shouldn't be constantly backpedalling against an aggressive player. You should be circling, changing direction etc. You can keep the range by circling, stepping inside and stepping back, as well as gain the upperhand with short and long attacks. No need to backpedal excessively.

And spear and sheild is just harder. By circling, turning your thrusts, chambering, and tricking opponents into spamming, you can still easily beat the average player.
