Wanted Criminal Quest

Is there a certain amount of time you have to let expire before you find the criminal in the village? I went to Gism immediatley after I recieved the quest and couldn't find him. Camped around the town for 3 days checking in at various times of the day / night and still nothing. My rep with Gism is 35 and the village elder / villagers won't tell me where he is or if he is in the village.

He's hiding in the village as "Nervous Man' if it's the right village, he's there, but he's behind buildings, etc. Just look EVERYWHERE.

I second that. Wanted criminals are a PAIN to find in some villages. Try looking behind buildings and even in buildings in some cases. He may even be hiding behind a well or windmill that's further from the village proper.

Look and you wil (eventually) find.

Think you're mistaking what honour is, mate. They're a criminal and due to be executed, he's not some lord you're dueling over a lady. Let him draw his sword and he has a chance to win, kill you, and escape unpunished for his crimes. Not exactly honourable.

If there is a windmill in  the village try looking there. They're usually near a windmill, behind buildings or inside like, sheds and stuff.

Sometimes they are a major pain to find. In one village the guy is in a pit, in another in the sarranids he's hiding INSIDE one of those low hanging tents behind a big basket :X. He's likely there somewhere... Just hiding.

Should they blast unarmed men who are simply accused of committing a crime? If you let the (alleged) criminal draw his weapon and take the first swing, you're killing in self defense. In this case, refusing the blood money reward is the second display of honor; after all, I went to arrest him for his alleged crime and put him on trial - not serve as some hired assassin with a target that may very well be innocent (either totally so, or by reason of self defense).

He should have thought about that before he bacame a criminal. Stab him in the face, noone will cry for him.

Look for a sword holster amongst the peasants, of course, the "nervous man" will be away from the main village, but that's how I easily identify him from a distance.

Look for the dude with a sword, in the least likely of places for villagers to be loitering.

As for the discussion of letting him draw his sword... Nah. He refuses to come with you alive and as the option states, you only need his head. You give the authorities trouble, it's your own life you are destroying. Guilty or innocent isn't the cops duty, it's the courts. If the man refuses to co-operate, the cop is within his rights to be forceful. In a situation with a sword ready to be drawn... I doubt further discussion is needed when justifying lobbing off his head.

And the villagers will miss him and cry a little, minus 2 relations. After all, guilty or not, you are killing one of their family members.

What annoys me is knocking him out and it still says I killed him. I also succeed in saying that he is dead when i only knocked him out and get all the reward, be it money or honour for refusing money.

I attack you to take everything you ever owned including your boots. You kill me... Noble lord is my buddy. He declares you guilty. Now, the authorities say you are guilty, but can you really call that guilty? Such is the justice in the land. The more honourable the leaders, the more justice for the common folk. Regardless, Innocent in this case is determined by moral considerations, not authoritarian decrees.

Up to you to decide what you want to do... I personally am happy to write him off as guilty or in the the very least not innocent enough to spare him at a personal cost. I've yet to see a situation that I cared enough to let the man free, although I did consider a couple times doing just that.

I like giving them a chance, poor chaps.. Why so unfair to them? It becomes a win win situation, they have a chance at killing me(Though I crowd their weapon space and wear the thickest armor I have), and I have a fun workout throwing punches to their face. If not, then I like to get a bow and slowly aim at the non lethal areas.. Slowly.. Slowly.. And if he's about to drop dead, kick him. Kick Killing is becoming fun for me. In the arena when I should stand no chance whatsoever, kick does 7-8 damage average, so I just keep kicking...
