Mod about the fall of Konstantinopolis and rise of the Ottoman Empire in the mid-15th century. This mod is meant to be a historically accurate expansion pack for M&B.
Will be featuring:
-The fall of the Queen of the Cities  part by part to the Ottomans.(the city will be divided into several parts, where you will be able to choose a different kind of strategy to defeat the enemy). Also there will be surrounding Byzantine villages around Constantinople.
-Crusader help from Italy and Balkans that will reinforce the city's garrison
-Player will have choices to attack the city, you may want to bombard the walls to make a hole in the walls,or fill the fosse then place ladders,or crush the doors with trebuchets or you may attack the walls from a ship!(though you have to build those siege machines before)
-The player start on Ottoman side, but will have the choice to either begin as a Janissary in trainee, or as a Turcoman Gazi. They will have different trainings and different missions; as an Acemi in kapikulu corps, you may either be an elite archer,a handcannoneer, a serdengeçti or a kapikulu cavalry. Your slaves can also be trained in kapikulu corps, meaning you can hire and train your slaves.
As a gazi, you will be able to get a fief, train soldiers for Sultan's army there and pay taxes. As you accomplish missions, you will get a higher rank meaning you will have a larger fief, have to provide more soldiers for the army and pay more.
You can alsoc choose to be an irregular soldier who lives on pillagings and raidings.
-The music will be unique, the mehter band will boost your soldier's morale and the nomad melodies will create the atmosphere of
Anatolian steppes..

there will be no troop trees for other nations, as you will not be able to join any faction other than ottomans, but i have mostly decided the troops for byzantines:

-Paramonai-palace guard both mounted and infantry
-varangian guard(??) there is no strict evidence they existed by this time
-Mourtatoi-heavy archers
-Vigla-town watch
-Kontaratoi spearmen
-Pezoi -infantry
-Toxotai -bowmen
-Psiloi -light skirmisher
-Pronoiar -heavy cavalry
-Katafraktoi -fully armed cavalry
-Oikeioi -knights
-Oiketai -men-at-arms/sergeant

map polished and finished! although i have not started modding map icons yet, this will give you an idea of the final map

On the subject of Byzantine equipment, AFAIK by the 15th century they were using a mixture of Western European and Turkish equipment. So I would expect to see Byzantines wearing sallets, armets, barbutas, brigandines, Milanese plate armour, as well as Turkish style sabres and mail-and-plate shirts.

For names of armour and helmets check out these two threads (shameless plug i know ):

i can open an exhibition with the turban helmet and chichak helmet photos/pictures you have provided  what i am lacking are janissary caps. officers and regulars wore different caps, also musketeers didnt wear the same uniforms as archers did, i might be wrong though..

there are no greek names of byzantine armors in those threads, and byzantine armor actually doesnt look like western europian armors very much, my sources represent them wearing a lots of chainmail armors, while westerners are in more plated armors..
thx for the contribution

Isnt there already a mod about constantinople? Dont be discouraged, Constantinople mods are sweet.

it died as far as i know, this will be a much more serious attempt.

Deyyus, are you okay with untextured .objs? I suck at texturing and wings3d isn't cooperating, I keep getting an error: Internal Error:badarith.

I made a turkish axe, gonna make a few more stuff and then I'll post them here.

Thanks again Aqtai for the pictures!

Something I've just noticed.

-janissary bows
-janissary muskets
-italian muskets...

The Italians and other western Europeans were using handguns in the mid-15th century, but these were weak and quite innaccurate weapons, far more primitive than muskets.

More info here:
http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~dispater/handgonnes.htm

These are the kind of things we're talking about:

http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Campground/8551/arquebus.html
http://www.xenophongroup.com/montjoie/gp_wpns.htm#handguns

They had something better than a crossbow; the Turkish composite bow, fast and powerful.

Right I went and checked this in Osprey's "The Janissaries", by David Nicolle. Janissaries were originally armed with composite bows (janissary officers continued to use bows long after the adoption of firearms), they first encountered firearms in Hungary 1440-1443 and gradually started accepting them soon after. However because firearms took so long to reload, many janissaries continued to be armed with bows well into the 16th century. There is little evidence that crossbows were used by the janissaries, on the other hand the Byzantines made extensive use of crossbows.

So yes some janissaries probably were armed with handguns at the siege of Constantinople. As to what they looked like, I have no idea.  My guess (and it is only a guess) that they would have looked something like the gun at the top of this page:
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Vault/1945/Guns/Mgonne.htm

What you have to remember about early handguns, is that although they were easier to use than bows and if a bullet does hit, more deadly, they were very slow to load, innacurate and had a relatively short range.
