Villages Wont Light Fires. Bugged?

I'm just playing Native singleplayer, no mods or anything, and no matter what I do, I can't get a village to actually light a fire! I pay them, press tab, click leave, wait... And, nothing happens. I've tried running right to the castle instead of waiting, that didn't work either. I've waited days, that didn't work. I've gone back and tried to pay them 3, 4 times. It simply never works!

Am I doing something wrong? Do you have to have a great standing with the village? I mean I never see the "village on fire on the map" that everyone talks about, and this is the second village I've tried at 2 different stages of the game, asking 2 different factioned villages to do it, but to no avail.

Am I possibly bugged? If so, do you know how I could fix it? I've tried saving and restarting the game, but no dice  :???:

Be sure you are asking the village that is associated with whatever castle you are trying to free the prisoner from.  Bottom of the screen "Notes", then "Locations", then click on the castle or city in question will tell you which village is associated with each castle.

I've had this happen a few times:  Once, it turned out the lord had just been released.  I only found this out by going back to the village to try asking them to start another fire and then didn't have the start fire on outskirts of village option appear.  I then went to the castle and the lord was no longer being held there.

Another time, right after I paid my money and left, the village began being raided.  I was out my dinars and still had to fight my way out.

If you use the fast travel option (CTRL + Space), if you haven't correctly selected your destination and end up accidentally sitting there for hours, the fire will go out.  I'm not sure what the duration is, but it is limited.

Now, to avoid any problems, I save before going into the village.

Yes it happens many times I ask them to do it,but just wait a day and the fires appear or ask them to do it again :???:

I always tell them to do it at Midnight and wait around till just after midnight and sure enough you can see a fire icon on the village. At that point I go into town and try to rescue the guys and it's usually just the guard plus 3 more guards after you break them out and you're home free.

It still doesn't seem to be working .  It's not raided, the guy isn't free, and I go back 4, even 5 times, sometimes even waiting a day inbetween and I see nothing =(.  These tips did help though especially if it happens in the future if I get it to work somehow, so thanks!  Oh, and yeah I made sure it was the village associated with the town!

Is it possible that I just can't SEE the fires, because of my settings? I have everything pretty much as low as I can get it with everyone off, because I'm using an older computer. Is there a type of setting I have turned off that maybe wouldn't show the fires? Any chance one of you could post a screenshot for me of what it looks like?

Also, when you guys say wait, do you mean by holding the spacebar, or just riding around? Sometimes I wonder if me holding space to advance time is what's messing it up, or if me hitting tab inside the village then clicking leave is messing it up maybe? I don't know how else to leave a town though, it's been a while since I played heheh.

If you have your brightness and contrast turned way down, it's possible you might miss a daytime fire.  I always ask for midnight like falkor says.

You broke your game, NomNom.  Don't do it again.

Since I and many others have never seen this lack of fire, I'm hesitant to call it a bug.  But if you desire you may post it on bugtracker.net.

Ahh ok, well, thanks for all the help, and if anyone has anything else to add feel free!

I haven't been in a situation to try it again, next time I'll mess with the video settings just to make sure.

What do the fires look like though? If anyone happens to be playing and wants to take a quick screenshot and post it that would be cool!

Strangely enough, they look very like bonfires with leaping flames and crackling embers.

Edit:  The fire appears to encompass the entire village with a plume of smoke rising above.

LOL ahh ok, yeah I figured   I just didn't know if I was looking for a little fire in the middle of the village when zoomed in, or if it was like a super noticable thing even when zoomed out. Hopefully I'll get it to work later today! I'll keep trying, and if not I guess I'll have to skip the fires D:

[EDIT]:  Thanks! And yeah thanks for the help everyone. Sorry to sound like a carebear but usually no one answers me on stuff like this heheh
