Sergeant at Arms
Since Village is so popular (love it or hate it-- it IS popular), I thought we could use another! :]

The idea is an infantry/archery heavy map. Cav is supposed to be sorta SOL on this. :]

Here are some OLD screenies...

I used Kmovies and WhichDoctor's ideas for more alleys and added another archer nest.

(Note- the tower is both for looks AND to limit the amount of archers that can camp there)

mb3-1.jpg
(Note- added more cav-away in the form of obstacles) and YES the portcullis opens and closes.

New ideas-

Used Slytacular's idea for a moat/drawbridge and added sinkholes/mounds of snow throughout the village.

Used Tiberius Decimus Maximus' idea for rubble/junk/spike barricades.

It's OK, but it's a tad bit small. You should expand it up past the trees at the top, right until the wall. (Ref. Picture 3.)

Nice idea. But I do agree a bit small and well, open. If it was all like the bit at the top right in the first pic it would be better. basically just fill in all the space with buildings with lots of little allys and access to roofs. That's what makes village so popular.

It is nice and with a bit more work I'm sure it will be really popular

Looking good but you could do with mixing the houses up a bit more, I see places there where there is rows of the same house model one after the other.

it's interesting. could you add some type of castle where archers can stand?
you know, different levels of walls  conected with stairs.  forming a stair of walls. it would be epic to assault that.

It's like a cross between snowy village, and village. If it is anti-horseman, then it will be one of my favorite maps.

Please bigger maps. Please?

Why would you need even bigger maps? I've found on most maps that they are plagued with unnecessary space that no one ever goes to.

Agreed about the bigger map thing, but I agree to that fact that there needs to be more in that village. Nice work! Do you know how to add ladders and stuff though? Because I can't seem to find any in those pics... Never mind, I think that thing on the left is a ladder right?

If you make the whole village more like the northern part it would be awesome. I also would love to see more height differences (think Castle3).

I disagree about maps having to be bigger btw. Some smaller, infantry centered maps would be great.

Anyways, I think there should be a purely urban map, much like the second scenario after you take the walls of a town in Native, where you have to fight the enemy defenders in the streets. That was always my favorite of the three, and could be much improved by makeshift barriers and chokepoints. So for example, rows of spiked poles, barriers made out of furniture and containers (crates, barrels, etc.), rubble... all sorts of good stuff. Perfect for close combat, 1 hand weapon fights.

Hmm... I have to agree with you there TDM, that would be nice.

EDIT: And shouldn't your MP nick be changed? :???:

With some of the items, say pushing over a cart or something, being  "usable" like ladders in Village?
That would be pretty sweet.

Now that you mention it, being able to open doors to go into houses and snipe at people from above would be awesome.

Needs to be bigger with more allys. I like rootop warfare from village  but there are too many different levels within 2 feet of each other. If you could streamline roottop warfare make the urban section bigger it would be a great map for warband game play wise.

trenches, and/or sinkholes would be different. Add a frozen moat, or a small stream running through the town.

I really had no choice. The only reason the houses look different in Village is because they have "additions" available for the Khergit models. There are only a-i snowy houses. If you noticed, I even included some non-snowy houses.

As for the size concern, it's supposed to be small. What you don't see in these pics (which I will remedy) is that the forest is actually a breach-able and highly obstacle-strewn area. Very dense with rocks and trees.

I just noticed that this is the one that I accidentally reset the terrain on, so I had to scrap it all and start again... so some of the areas are hurried.

Edit- Also, roughly 80% of the houses/towers are roof-accessible. I'm trying to make it so It's not such a sniper paradise, though.

But I'll take your suggestions into account and revise! First draft is never the good one. :]

good looking map.  My only suggestion would be to lower the elevation of the hill so that the ringwall/tower crosses over the top of it.
