Try it. Seriously. This is how Warband was supposed to be. It doesn't have the popularity it deserves, it's by far the most advanced, polished and historically accurate multiplayer mod out there. And the one you have most fun with aswell.

The message was that Vikingr is a great mod. It has 2 handers, shields, archers and cavalry - just like Native, but better.  If Scully had a point, he failed to make it.

You've got so many shielders because you've got so many ranged easymoders aswell, hence native is such pathetic archer spamfest. In Vikingr it a) actually takes a lot of skill to be an archer  b) there's a hard limit, ie. 3 archers per 20 people in the team. So you do actually have some decent fights.

They're all a part of the game and so it seems is the petty whinging.

That said, Vikingr is pretty ****in' nice.
 
Vikingr emphasises teamwork in melee.

Native emphasises personal skill.(And if you're an angry vikingr/cRPG player who doesn't agree with me, go and play in the ENL, Nations cup or nditions dueling tournament)

I must agree. I discovered it by chance a few days ago and have played a lot of it since. It really is excellent fun and in my opinion is better than native.

Last time I played Vikingr my char moved as fast as a fckn snail swimming upstream.

I think the mod has/had a lot going for it, but some things have just been tempered too much with in favor of a supposed 'realism'.

I really liked the time when you had those short 1h/2h swords, but movement speed (except for berserkers who ran almost as fast as a horse) was/seemed sort of 'normal' back then as well.

2-handed archer spam? You sure you were playing Native? Are you maybe talking about cRPG?

Anyways, let me know when you can run 'normally' again and I'll come play with you sometime; I used to enjoy it quite a bit half a year/a year back or so.

Honestly it's quite easy to get used to it, even for me and I play Native as you do. :razz:
It becomes natural and frankly I like it. Makes you think how sprinting across the battlefield in armor 100% of the time is quite silly.

With that said, do try Vikingr gentlemen, if you're looking for a more hardcore approach to Native's combat and roles in general. It features your standard infantry, archers and cavalry, but I guess it's safe to say each class feels much more satisfying, yet more challenging to play to full extent. Plus, it features vikings!
