Ok i just bought M&B the other day. I had played it before and it worked fine and i loved it, so i bought it. But this time im having lots of crashings and hangups. I just started it up and left it, it made my system hang after abpout 10 mins of sitting in town.

I tried 5.13 5.12 5.11 driver for my ATI card and all do it.

Win XP
Radeon X800
2.0 gig processor
1 gig ram

It doesnt seem to be over heating, any suggestions?

Try a full uninstall & reinstall.

If its occuring when left alone for a period of time, check your screen saver \ power saver settings. It sounds like either the PC is trying to enter low power mode, or else a screen saver is trying to activate and screwing up M&B.

NOno, it will crash while playing. The power settings arent the problem. The only thing i have it set to do is turn off the monitor.

ITs odd, at first itl usually CTD the first time, then if i play again itl totally hang up, blue screen. Just blue, no BSOD, just ....blue. the sound repeats and i have to reboot. I think the first CTD is a recovery fromt he video card, the ATI cards can reboot on the fly and wont crash your pc all the time. But the second time to makes it crap out. Like i said i doubt its heat, i can play much more powerful games without problem and it doesnt feel hot.

Is it always after a specific interval, or does the time between crashes seem random?

Try start -> run -> msconfig. Click startup, click disable all. Ok that screen and reboot. See if the problem occurs. Re-run msconfig and bring the anti-virus and firewall back up.

If it still happens, it may give you a BSOD message. If so, it would be helpful.

One other possibility is malware or windows corruption. From your description, it seems windows may be having problems with system recovery. Might be worth running a good couple of antivirus scans on the machine just to be sure

Check the soundcard driver is up to date.

Also, run dxdiag and turn the sound acceleration slider to the lowest setting (none). Try running the game on each setting and see if it improves the problem.

still no dice. I set it to no acceleration, turned off the sound and it still crashed. Tried it on all levels of acceleration, still crashes. When i reformatted i updated all my drivers too. I just dont get it.

Thanks Archonsod for trying to help, i dunno what is going on. If anyone has a clue let me know, ill try anything i REALLY wnana be able to play consistantly

Try updating windows. Not sure if it would help, but may be worth a shot ::smile:
You may also want to try and off every other program running in the background, including explorer.exe to see if you still get problems. Sometimes worth a shot as well ::smile:

Hmm, i had a similar problem. The game crashed after several minutes and the screen turns blue.
My soundcard causes this, so i deactivated the driver and now it works(well, without sound, but there are only a few effects anyway).
