Very very low FPS on normal PC

Awesome megafreezes make the game completely unplayable. FPS does not rise for more than 15, every few seconds a megafreeze occurs, as a result of which, I get only 2-3 FPS for 3-8 seconds. What's the catch? In all other games, everything is fine with me. I have 1060 6GB, Ryzen 2700X and 8GB of DDR4 RAM. How to deal with it?

It's probably the amount of ram.
Close everything when playing the game.
I run an r5 2600 just fine at 4K but have 16GB ram (3200mhz)

Turn Sound Channels down to 128, that ws a major fix for me.

Let me find a thread with a bunch of helpful suggestions for performance, one moment

Edit: https://forums.taleworlds.com/index...tuttering-got-8gb-ram-this-might-help.397468/

Main things I found that helped with performance:
- Sound Channels
- Sharpen as low as it will go
- Ensure your Graphics Card is actually selected
- Ensure proper sound device is actually selected
- Set the Frame Limiter down (I think it defaults to 200FPS? I dropped it to 60)
- Ensure your Graphics Drivers are up to date

Check which graphics processor the game is using in settings. It seemed to switch automatically to intel driver for me, causing similar problems. I had to manually switch it to nvidia and that sorted it out.

The R7 2700X doesn't have an IGPU so that can't be the problem.

If the issue is stuttering, it's likely related to RAM. If the issue is FPS, it's likely related to CPU/GPU.

If your FPS is truly so bad that it's around 15-20, then something seems to be off, check that your settings are using the right graphical card, that your vertical sync is set correctly, etc. .

I use a Ryzen 2700X, rx580, 16GB ddr4 (3200) and installed on an ssd. Have had no real performance issues here, so im guessing it is gonna be the lack of ram or if its installed on an old slow hdd might be an issue.

At least having the same cpu you know its not an issue there.

RAM or type of storage is what will cause issues here, from what I'm seeing. Your GPU also isn't the most potent one on the market nowadays, it's an entry-level GPU.

8GB of RAM just won't cut it anymore and if you're still using a physical hard drive then that is also impairing your performance, SSDs, particularly NVME SSDs are the best option here as they increase read/write speeds by up to 10-15x that of a regular hard drive. Which in turn means faster loading and performance, no hitches and stutters as the game has to wait for a physical hard drive to load, etc.

I also believe the game uses more ram than it should atm. being in EA seems to be the go to reason for such issues atm but my main problem with that excuse for this issue is this.

From the steam store page
MINIMUM:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 7 (64-bit only)
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-8100 / AMD Ryzen™ 3 1200
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel® UHD Graphics 630 / NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660 2GB / AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 2GB
  • Storage: 60 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: Integrated GPUs require additional 2GB of system RAM. These estimates may change during final release.
RECOMMENDED:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit only)
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-9600K / AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600X
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 3GB / AMD Radeon™ RX 580
  • Storage: 60 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: These estimates may change during final release.

So as you can see according to this,1060 and 8GB RAM are the recommended specs to play bannerlord and 6GB is the minimum. so Taleworlds themselves have estimated this to be sufficient and even state that the estimate may change during final release, therefore, these are the estimates for the EA version of Bannerlord, so really if we're being honest 8GB and gtx 1060 should be enough to run the game smoothly without any stuttering / freezing due to RAM/ GPU issues.
    According to taleworlds themselves..
    Just saying.

But yeaah, EA durr hurr durr..

Right, these are what they recommend solely to just run their software on your machine. This is not accounting for anything else you are also doing at the same time. (i.e. Browsing the web with bloated browsers, running background apps, opening new windows/apps, etc). So if all you're doing is running Bannerlord then yeah, this is perfectly fine if it wasn't an unoptimized mess right now.

I agree, doesnt really count if your running other things in the background aswell.. but if you are not doing that, then you should be good to go.. but its not really the case atm.

well the most important thing, at what configuration are u playing? that could make the hole diference

Add more RAM if you can. In the meantime consider allocating virtual memory (page file) on an SSD if you have one, otherwise on the fastest spinning disk.
