Very screwed up display

Since the new patch came I've had this happen upon loading a saved game:

If I alt-tab and come back the game is ok, but if it happens again and I alt-tab more often than not M&B:W crashes. Help?(Drivers updated)

Comp Speccs:
Intel i5 750 2.67ghz x2
8GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4670(Graphics card)
Windows 7

It would still help, to know if it still does it if you start a new game.

If doesn't, you can export your character and import it. You will still have your EXP and money.

ALSO: have you tried fiddling with the graphics settings?

I'd rather it work with my current saved game that i've spent a lot of time on.

Starting a new game doesn't delete your current game. Anyway, what drivers are you running with your ATI 4670?
If they are 10.7 or 10.8 I think you should uninstall them and install 10.3 or 10.4 instead.

You'll see your previous drivers and can install them from C:\ATI\Support usually.

The point is to see if the problem is on a new game, then you know whether it's the save that has the problem or the game in general.

If I remember rightly there's been some complaints from people using the latest ATI Catalyst drivers about bugged textures in Warband, I suppose it's that. I don't know if there's any solution right now but try searching around the forums. Good luck with it.

I tried changing my drivers to 10.4 instead of 10.8. Starting a new game causes M&B:W to crash and I still have the same problems listed above. As well in multiplayer I see the sky on the ground and various parts of buildings/structures are invisible with both versions of drivers.

As I said below I'm unable to start a new game because M&B:W crashes when I try to. Catalyst drivers. There a way to turn them off to test?

I had this same problem a lot when I was playing the multiplayer closed beta, it got to the point where I just said "screw it" and quit playing. I tried different fixes but nothing worked. Eventually I bought a new graphics card and the game runs great now with no weird display issues. I can even play 400 man sieges without the game crashing.

It worked for me and I had money to spend at the time, however your situation may be different. I could have been able to fix it without a new card but I became discouraged probably too quickly. Whatever you try I hope it works, if it turns out you need a new card I'd recommend the ATI 5670, its pretty good if you're on a budget like I was.

Not really an option. I just bought this computer 3 weeks ago. : /

Im having to use my spare card at the moment... a crap 512 nivida card... it will do till i can get another beast....
Tho i am pissed cause im sure warband caused it to burn out with its unlimited frame rate... its the only game i been playing the last month an a half... only had my ati card 2 months>.. Can't play my high end games now :( Spewing.

Blackrain, Warband HAS a capped framerate. Even if it didn't, graphics cards warn you when they're running too hot, and I think pretty much all of them downclock themselves if they're beyond a certain threshold these days. You got a faulty card, get over it, stop posting this bull**** in other people's support threads.

exactly what was thinking... i have run far more powerfull games with no hassle's then my card dies on a weak dx 9 game lol makes me laugh and cry at the same time.... all i can put it down too is frame rate burn out

As far as I can tell the only thing you can do is downgrade your graphics card drivers. There's probably some more information for you in this thread: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,133188.0.html but I'm not sure. Sorry I can't give you any better help.

But why does it become too hot in Warband and in other big games it doesn't ?
Actually, nobody posted the temps of their cards with Warband to prove that the cards get too hot.

Wanna check if your card is overheating? Run Furmark till dies.
