longer cav swords and shorter bayonets..... i love being killed by a cav player that skirts around my short sharpened sticks range
also about the no cav rearing up when stabbed with a pointy stick is stupid this means in linebattles people will just take bayonet stabs and keep riding on like they never got stabbed in the first place....

even on fastest the melee feels like its on the slowest setting possible and more

Well certainly it has it upps and downs but mostly upps then downs.
I can live with slower upper attacks

Thank GOD (and they devs, ofc ) for this update. Melee is so much more realistic now, since bayonets are supposed to be slower than knifes, and cavalry is now finally in the superior position it held in the actual era. Good job on the rebalance, devs!
O, and isn't 1.006 a bit small for a big update like this? 10 new maps, big melee changes, Module system out...
Why not 1.1, or 1.01?

i support your decision. but im not a fan. you have to realize that the people who complained before were kinda extra chromosomy. But all in all. it would be nice to have the old melee back. i think most of it is placebo though. (tell them you changed it and don't. then they will be like thanks! trolol)

As someone who fences, it isn't easy to hold an Epee up, now consider this is me standing still arm extended. Now try that with a sword from the Napoleonic Era . Please tell me it's "faster" then. I appreciate the hard work, but I feel "pros" get their say in because they were the only ones actively complaining. Everyone else who enjoyed it went about enjoying it by playing the game.

Yeah, 90% of the forums are filled with MM-melee elitists. If the whole community got to counter-complain as much as they did, this thread would have about 50 pages right now.

It was more of an unbalance than a rebalance. Bayonets were the perfect speed. 'Scuse me for asking, but are you perhaps in a skirmisher regiment?

Well, the 8th arty loves this, especially Ortoga, in his words "olololo going to pwn some newbs now! This is a great update! ololololo." Before even trying it.

I would like to complain, but with reason. Most of the stuff in this patch like the cavalry being better is fine, but I would suggest making the horses have a bit less health, because heavy horses can take a lot of bullets. Also I would suggest converting the bayonet to a bit quicker speed because they used it with a quick charge stab or a quick stab to the gut, not a slow lunge overhead/under.

Only the upper stab ready animation (from idle to raise above head) got a 0.15 seconds speed penalty, no other speed changes, lower stab is unchanged.

I seriously doubt people would have noticed anything if I haven't put it in the change log, you guys are all swallowing placebo.

Overall, rage ignored, it is now balanced against the lower stab which had less range and less chance to hit the head.

the british standard musket of the time the brown bess indian pattern witch was the musket used by british troops except for the Foot guards who used the New land pattern, but anyway the indian pattern was 55.25 overall length without the 17in. bayonet and the new land pattern was 55.5 inches without the same 17inch bayonet. so therefor the british line should have a length of 72.25 to be historical and the Coldstream should have 72.5 inchs to be historically accurate

But Vince, I went in with the mindset that it was only a time change on the Up-stab. But the second I started meleeing, it felt off. Slow and clunky. Foreign and weird.

My thoughts exactly. Like using an xbox controller after years of playing PS3

Could the up stabs be added maybe a tiny bit more range to be able to combat horses/make the risk more worth it?

And yea had to adapt to the last patch and mastered it but I gotta try to master this one, which will be fun, but please consider my suggestion.

Also ^ I like

This isn't CS:1.6 to CS:GO though. There shouldn't be any major adaptations between versions. I appreciate the work, but even people who just knew it was patched without any info on the patch said the same thing. Clunky and slow.

Jorge won't be able to do his spins easily either hehehe
