It's simple really, the devs have chosen everything possible to lower the learning curve for new players, thus knowingly sacrificing realism and complexities.

Because using only overheads is obviously extremely realistic.  :roll:

It was a realistic attack, players chose to use it more.

Isn't this patch reversed now basically?
I don't see a problem.

The underhand is the new overhead.
Reverse your fighting style, I've adapted, took about one day.
 
What they did was make it extremely easy now, there is no challenge or excitement in bayonet fighting now. Bayo fighting is still usable but is not really exciting.
Redundant
I have no problem with the cavalry for they are still easy to beat still.
It doesn't make good players bad it just makes it not as fun.
 
Look, I think that most of us would be happy if we could make a "compromise" about this. I am a NW and MM veteran and to be honest I agree with both sides. The overheadstab before this patch was too overpowered and easy to do and enabled the more experienced players to take advantage of the more unexperienced players, hell I killed 20 enemies on my own and 70% of those kills were overheadstabs. However, I do agree with those unhappy with the patch because they feel like the developers have "Dumbed" the game down. Remember that the makers of this DLC is one of us and they do listen to what everyone say. I would suggest you just make the overheadstab just a little faster, but not to such an extent like it was in the 1.005 patch. You will still be able to block pretty easily, which means that you can not spam overheadstabs. I think everyone would be happy if that was done. Other then that it is just the shadowreach on swords and shovels(yes I said shovels) that should be fixed.

I agree 2 that the overhead stab was very quik first but most ppl got used to the speed and boosted ther melee skill bcus of the speed they need to confront. Some ppl had still problems with it and I can get that with the speed on 1.005 cus when I played first nw I was 2 like wow fking fast, u needed skill in it to do it so I trained it and learned it.
I have no problem they do overhead atack a bit slower, but this is just extremely slow if u looked at the patch before it.
Like I said before even noobs can defeat pro's if pro's do overhead after block and then a nub just spamm down stab cus its faster and it works.
What for skill do you need then to kill a pro (spamm)?

I would like to see it faster.
It was slowed by .15 or something? I can't remember the exact statistic, perhaps half that, Vince? Or maybe make it .10 just to make the whole community happy?
This forums are looking more like WWI than Rigadoon's Iron Europe. :neutral:
 
Up attacks are just too SLOW i have a delay when i up stab and its blocked i cant block for like 2 seconds or i think its just cause i'm too much infront of my enemy im dueling so my gun cant move

But still the up attacks need to be put back the melee needs to be the way it was always.

The delay is the server's fault for not having the Hotfix installed.

Yes. It should. I believe I've seen it working on the Official NA server. :wink:
 
Just a side note from what AsianP said witch is pretty much true:


As you can probably tell from the votes that have been sent  in so far, the community is just about split equally into two halves. Neither side will be happy and you will never please both. Liking the old melee does not make you selfish or anything. Liking the new melee is the same. But liking either one will have problems. Liking the new one means that most of the players that have invested hundreds and even a thousand hours (such as myself) will never have the same hold on the module again. Although you can practice to attempt to become better with it, it will never be the same. Also in the future I'm pretty sure they are gonna end up nerfing the horse units. People will begin to complain and the devs will have to listen. Face it you will never be able to satisfy the whole community. In my opinion if you cant bring back the old melee (which I prefer) at least meet us halfway. So both sides will at least have a small amount of satisfaction.

I agree 100% with what you said.
But that also does back up the argument to keep it how it is now.
Alot of veterans losing their grip on the module forever, or tons of new people getting a better grip? Lots more new people come each day, and the melee is better suited to them, is it not?

I personally like the new melee, so that may be a bit biased. Think what you will.
 
The melee has no challenge to it anymore so having an easy melee system removes the challenge of having to actually learn it to be good now its just stab, back up, stab, back up or down stab spam with 1 up attack thrown in there every 30 down stabs. so it just becomes a backpedaling contest which makes for a boring game..
