BannedWell why use bayonets at all when butter knives are now obviously superior in every way.damonkey 说:LedZeppelin 说:The list does go on, and it's all people who have been around since mm. The same people that are up in arms about this patch. Vets=People who have been around since mm, at least that's how I see it.TheBoberton 说:
I consider myself a veteran. I've played since before MM was called "Mount and Musket". At the time of my playing, it was called "Musket Madness", and was a alpha/beta. I hated melee in NW. It was a spamfest of up attacks, and when I chambered them they just blocked and continued their spam. I know I speak for a few other veterans, as I've talked to them on the matter. Before the 1.006 patch, I played a total of about 12 hours, only because i'm an admin and have duties, I mose certainly didn't play the game to have fun, as I couldn't. After the patch, I've already exceeded the amound of hours and thoroughly enjoy it. The thing about the new melee is it forces people to learn alternatives to just regular attacking. People need to learn chambering and other methods again, which is great.

CiRcUs 说:Why would taleworlds fix something that was never broken? Nothing was wrong with the previous version, at least with melee. But now, they made melee almost completely unplayable. There is so much controversy about this topic. That should be enough of a reason to switch the melee back to the way that it was before.
BannedIf you knew how to block properly (which takes time to learn, as it should) overhead spam was easy to counter and use in your advantage even. Cav sword length is now LONGER than the their animations, which is just to me an unfinished patch almost. Honestly cav in general has always been the cheap way of killing people as it's so easy just to run up from behind people in melee and slice them, especially dragoons.Si-A-erra. 说:CiRcUs 说:Why would taleworlds fix something that was never broken? Actually it was pretty broken, way too easy to spam and overheads where op. cav was underpowered too.
now its much better, but because of the change in pace it feels stupid and unnatural.
BannedI agree completely with this. In a poll regarding the topic 46% of the users said they preferred the old version. THAT'S ALMOST HALF OF THE COMMUNITY, and that's not even considering the fact that 25% of those 46% were probably the majority of the veterans of the game. And we are more than willing to compromise on the issue as well, KEEP the unrealistically small bayonets, just give us back the melee we have come to love in the game.CiRcUs 说:Why would taleworlds fix something that was never broken? BannedI never had a problem taking down cav before the patch, it was always easy to just ram them in with my bayonet with an upstab, which has been rendered impossible due to this silly patch. I never had a problem with spammers, in fact those were always the easiest to take down because most spammers cannot block.Si-A-erra. 说:LedZeppelin 说:If you knew how to block properly (which takes time to learn, as it should) overhead spam was easy to counter and use in your advantage even. Haha don't go into the cav argument, all you need is a good overview of your environments and it is easy to neautralise cavalry, just dont stand by yourself in the middle of a field and if a lancer comes at you just block, never try to hit it, let your teammates hit it once you have blocked its hit.if its couching lance just jump jump jump!
Also on the upper block it is very hard to block a hit when it is preceded by 5 or so spams and that thing where you look down but hit up. now it is much harder to spam feint which is good, they just need to speed up the up attack, not as much as before though. it is too easy to chamber now, and counter cambering is very hard.

TheBoberton 说:Ok, let me make this simple, since you've not gotten it yet:
The skill ceiling - that thing that determines the average skill necessary from the players - has gone up, because the game is no longer a case of spamming and spinning. The true 'veterans' - the ones who've been here since MM - have actually enjoyed the patch (Those I've spoken to at least), because it requires the use of a brain, rather than just your right index finger.
