Guys how about some feedback on the troops? How are they doing in combat? Are they using proper weapons?  :smile:

Not at all. You can get 21 Strength points from the get-go. I did with my Viking character and thanks to that I was able to overpower the Troll by level 3 and from then on I could take on any party of vikings and also clear out their longphort near Dunwic, which meant chainmail and lots of money.
It is difficult to play (if not impossible) this character. I have 16 points is enough Strength that would dominate all enemies, including in the lair of the Danish Vikings.
 
I saw some norse guys with chain-wolf armour swinging their fists in combat. I think after throwing their javelins they didn't immediately switch to melee weapons, not due to broken weapons. They were in formation t the time.

I noticed that they were finally obey when I forbid them to fire.

That reminds me, my guys seem to forget I've told them to hold fire after a while.  They'l hold it for a while, then I notice they're throwing javelins again.  This is my horse-riding companions, assigned to '7'.


The only troops I can see who use pictish painted bodies are the elite skirmishers who only use crossbows and slings, so don't benefit from the power-throw boost.  Better to give them to the horsemen, they do nothing but throw javelins!

Impossible? Maybe becoming a king could be. Anything else is well within reach.

I think that hight ranked cavalry has been nerfed too much. Now pictish nobles, irish bodyguards and franks mercenaries have very long spears + ridicous knives making them inefective dismonted. When they are dismounted it's the same as if they were dead. Seing their price Ithink they are too weak and likely to be killed ; what's more I feel alone with my sword at horseback...
that's why I suggest giving regular axes/short swords to irish bodyguards and decent swords to franks and pictish nobles instead of knifes.
The last two would make elite cavalry because they have heavy armor ; but considering how difficult it's to get them, players should not using them as shock troops and prefer skirmishing tactics (what's more, they're mixed with ligther horsemen).
One more point is that elite horsemen historically used swords.
 
I noticed a bunch of elites using their fist as mentionned earlier, other thant that and the rather useless spear for cav nothing is really troubling.

Now I know this not a new request but missile accuracy for AI is just to much. I'm gettin shot in close melee 75% of the time (one hit kill 90% of the time) AND while my shield is up. Ruffians, farmers and Irish Skirmishers are actually way too OP because of this : large amount of ammo, dead-eye accuracy and an ability to stand firm until the ennemy is directly threatenin him. What tends to happen is that your own troops bottleneck in front of the opponent while their skirms shoot them from very narrow angles (impossible ones in my opinion...). And this keeps going on until 10 of them are left and start to run.

With such settings you could just recruit an 80% skirmisher party and kite away from the AI until victory. It's not realistic and feels really punitive, It'd really be awesome if this could be fixed.

Umm, crouching exploit.

Crouching makes AI miss 99% of the time in near point-blank range.
Is that intended?

Im finding myself headshooted way to much by every enemy, specially with throwing weapons but also with other like slings etc.
 
Some heavy shields not have penalty to skills.

Im finding myself headshooted way to much by every enemy, specially with throwing weapons but also with other like slings etc.

Well, if you crouch, they'll miss 99% of the time even on close range.
 
Is it possible to change some of the sword scabbards? (for the named swords)

I noticed that the blue one is there quit often (ulfberths, banditking, widowmaker) maye have forgotten one....

but the other scabbards are just 1 time there ( nad, (the green one....halti or so?), dragundail , ...it feels like i missed one ....oh well)

For the Long seax +(Ragnars, elfs,) is there a way that you can have them visible along your sword scabbard? (something like the boardseax...)

Also the damage for the seaxs....im not sure but i think the best slashing swords should have a littel bit more slash damage 
(elf 38 temp. - nad /banditking 38 temp.)
so maybe 1-2 Points more? and the seax a bit faster to compensate ?

im quite happy that you can reinforce your armors now :grin:
Is it possible to add the masterwork option for weapons ? (temperred feels a bit weak as final upgrade) maybe let the player choose if he wants balanced or temp as upgrade.......

oh and is there another armorpiece besides elf helm that can become lordly / will there be one in the future?

Im not sure but is it possible to get the "elfs" banner ?

We rebalanced prices for RE, and as part of that we removed some imods (qualities like masterwork). They are just cool names from native, as the bonus they give are really small (+1 damage, etc). We have less options, but they are closer in price (so no more 200k helmets).

A example: a masterwork sword would cost 17.5x the price of a normal sword, while giving just +1 damage when compared to the tempered version  :shock:
--> Normal sword 5k, masterwork 43k denars  :mrgreen:

The qualities have a impact on the item durability (they break in combat = reduce quality over time), so you will notice that your reinforced armor will last longer than a battered one  :smile:

Young warriors to veteren slave hunters get a guaranteed shield, but then slaver chiefs don't, seems a bit off. Especially as they mostly fight in ship battles with lots of javelins being thrown about at close range.

Also it seems like it's possible for Irish champions to get a hunting knife and no shield, though I could be mistaken about this.
