Variation of lance

Light lance, lance, and heavy lance. What do you prefer and why?? I think they don't have many differences unless the weight and range. How about double sided lance, great lance, and jousting lance ? I think jousting lance is a great lance with piercing damage..

Edit : Jousting lance is a great lance with blunt damage

Jousting lance does blunt, that's why it's cool for a manhunter-type character. I don't often use lances in SP though. I díd for the longest of times before warband though. The Double sided lance has always been odd and I like the heavy lance for its looks and range.

In fact jousting lance isn't designed for battle, it is usually used in tournament or sport.
But some knights in middle age used jousting lance in the frontline and it is good enough

As far as the game goes I think I am the only person who doesn't like the lance. I fan of lances outside the game, in the game it just doesn't seem efficiency. First off the AI will try and use it at a stand still doing no damage (why vanilla tournaments are so bad). But also for myself you only get one or two hits in passing by the entire enemy line. While it does do amazing damage I don't think its that good unless maybe you strike a lord or a max teir units. My first game I used a balanced elite schimiter and would be able to get several kills and do good damage to lords and max tier. Now my second game (raged last game at ~800 days) I am going a 2-hander for the same method.

Now by all means, if I am missing out of something please let me know!

Naah, same here. When Warband made couching not automatic anymore it became easier to just use a two-hander/morningstar. Don't get me wrong, I like the change, couching in 1.011 was way unbalanced. But as the attraction of couching was really due to how easy it was to use...

I thought a light lance would be better for its speed, but I found it wasn't long enough to reach my enemies so I got the great lance instead.

Yeah, it's not great versus great lances, because then they tend to have couched you before you can stab the horse. :/

But great lance doesn't have good base damage, lower than light lance, and great lance is the hardest to thrust while on horseback as same as while on foot. It's horrible if you facing an opponent using great lance and jousting lance

The Balanced Warspear provides awesome stabbing power, is guick as lightning and outperforms all lances in every way.
Lancing in Warband got more difficult than M&B, and it was about time.

Who cares about lancing when you can strike your opponent before he raises his weapon?
And I suggest that everyone must try to use it two-handed (with absence of archers of course).

A killer weapon once you become accustomed with.

That's right, and with spear in horseback, you can score more kill than if you using couched lance.
You can aim better, and you can still hit if your horse aren't at its full speed.

How about long awlpike, its fast, and have good range

I feel I'm missing your point here, as it appears you find pressing X to be incredibly difficult. Also you can turn it back to automatic in the options.

They still suck though, considering how easy it is for the AI to block thrusts and  how long it takes to set up a couch, which is ruined if anyone has a shield or, you know, if you go over a tiny bump.

I can easily beat cavalrymen that have greatlances with a light lance.

Balanced Long Awlpike is the thing to use if you like stabbing people from horseback, imho.

I only use lances in tournaments nowadays, when I have to :/

I prefer the normal lance, 'cause of it's speed and range it's the medium type of 'em all imo.

This. Heavy and Great lances will probably help you survive a one-on-one charge against another knight, given their longer range, but for versatility I prefer the normal one. The bigger lances are too clumsy and slow for being in the thick of a melee, and it's important to me to have the option to couch it if I need to take down enemy cavalry or tough footmen. What other weapon lets you deliver 500 points of damage, shattering shields and slaying horses in a single blow?

Now when AI sucks with lance i tend to use a balanced light lance on my own character and suprise here balanced battle scythe on my companions since its lighting fast among lances and shorter range. And because of the fact that npcs stuck after hiting the enemies and just atacking them normaly short range lances do great after the 1st charge.
