http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_Empire - results of the 4th Crusade

Not sure what other peoples that thread might have been referring too exactly as it seems there were quite a few turkic peoples with "mongol" like similarities and ties to the Byzantine Empire (Khazars, Oghuz, etc) but none seem to quite tie in with the time of the 1200s

Oh and the Rus had ties to Nordic peoples as well as Slavic tribes it seems though there is a lot of debate on the matter

Actually i think the Swadians are based off of the Holy Roman Empire.... Just seems that all there troops/weapons/armor is more like the Holy Roman Empire.

I'd say they are clearly based off France with their mix of heavy cav and crossbows.

You realize that by this time crossbows had all but replaced bows in almost every Western continental nation?

And France was far from unique in its emphasis on heavy cavalry.

And what Shik said.

4-th crusade... hehe, I think it was in one of the Horrible History's... that crusader were heading to Ierusalim, as usual, but due to the drunk sailors ended up in Constantinople... oh well, what's the difference, let's burn and plunder this one then!

Drunk? Also drunk just before attacking Croatian city of Zadar (Zara) in the same campaign? Accidentally? Nah, it was Venice rivalry and treachery:

The Rus.

Swadians are the HRE
Rhodoks are the Swiss/Italians
Khergits are the Kyrgyz
Nords are 9th-10th century Scandinavians
Sarranids are some Middle-Eastern/North African faction, I'm not acquainted with that area of history.

They are the Mamluke Sultanate. Their name have been sugested by me in other thread  from coming from the word saracen, and sugested as coming as well from sassanide.

I was not aware that having an epic beard made you a dwarf..

his legs and body proportions are the same length as the other two.

I'm not saying I am right  , I am just saying that I thought they were based off France. Alsace, (which is in modern day France), was part of Swabia right?

In my country people were forced to practice in archery so there was less of a need for crossbowmen. Archers also had the distinct advantages of a greater rate of accuracy and fire, being unaffected by the weather and the men being cheaper to employ and arm.

----------------------------------------------------

"After landing with some 12,000 men, including 7,000 archers and taking Caen in Normandy, Edward III moved northwards. Edward’s forces were continually tracked by a much larger French army, until they finally arrived at Crécy in 1346 with a force of 8,000.

The English took a defensive position in three divisions on ground that sloped downwards, with the archers on the flanks. One of these divisions was commanded by Edward’s sixteen year old son Edward the Black Prince. The French first sent out the mercenary Genoese crossbowmen, numbering between 6000 and 12,000 men. With a firing rate of three – five volleys per minute they were however no match for the English and Welsh longbow men who could fire ten – twelve arrows in the same amount of time. It is also reported that rain had adversely affected the bowstrings of the crossbows.

Philip VI, after commenting on the uselessness of his archers, sent forward his cavalry who charged through and over his own crossbowmen. The English and Welsh archers and men-at-arms held them off not just once, but 16 times in total. During one of these attacks Edward’s son The Black Prince came under direct attack, but his father refused to send help, claiming he needed to ‘win his spurs’.

After nightfall Philip VI, himself wounded, ordered the retreat. According to one estimate French casualties included eleven princes, 1,200 knights and 12,000 soldiers killed. Edward III is said have lost a few hundred men."

Yeah, but given the other two appear to be early models of C3P0 and R2D2 I don't think we can draw any real conclusions from that.

Also, C3P0 seems to be missing an elbow.

Seems to me not even armagan can cure your stubborn mind. You do know your Swiss argument is a fail right?

Giving this a bump... Looking at the new world map (don't remember the old one) it actually becomes quite self evident.

Nords are... well, nord of everyone else. The Vaegirs are east of them, as today the Russians. Swadia is quite the "centre of the world", Central European. Rhodoks are south of Swadia, which fits italy. The Huns/Mongolians are in the lower east, and the Saranids are even further east which fits the Arabian theme.

Really kinda cool how they did not just match the factions to historical counterparts, but also the geographic relations are approximated.

You're like a little kid clawing for attention. Don't be sad that your first post got no replies. But posting twice in a redundant thread - makes you redundant yourself.

Swadia and Swabia - I doubt the similarity in name is coincidental.

YEAH!!!

That ist exact the same, as i thought first time...

But, if it is, Swadia Towns and Villages has to be very rich... and pays a lot of tax...

I think, Swadia is the Highmiddleage in Western Europe. This means Holy Empire (aka Germany), France and England. All together is exactly the time from 1190-1300 (without welsh, english Archers because post 1300  ).
