(v0.700) Inventory Management

I didn't find anything about this after a quick search, so maybe it's only happening to me. It would seem that the Inventory Management skill does nothing for my character. So far I've only put one point into it but he's not getting any extra inventory slots, and I don't want to waste any more points on the skill if its temporarily broken.

On an interesting side note however, it still seems to work for other characters. Marnid started off with a point or two in the skill and he had the appropriate amount of slots in his inventory.

i think the starting inventory has been reduced so when you put one point into inventory management it looks just like the starting inventory space from the previous version.

Is it a direct 1 to 1 trade on IM?

It seemed to me that you needed to put more than a couple of points in to increase your slots significantly.
Am I right in thinking it also decreases the speed penalties for carrying lots of gear?
