(v. 0.623) Crash on "Restore a game"

The game crashes and I get this error when I click on "Restore a game":

Start a new game still works and I can save, but when I try to restore, it crashes again in the same way.

I think I'll have to reinstall the game now or something.


PS oh, and image tags dont work?

One of your old saves is corrupt - move them out of the directory one by one, and try to restore after every removed save.
sooner or later you should be able to restore again, then move all saves except the last one you removed back into the savegamefolder.

Is there a way for me to restore the corrupt savegame or should I just forget about it? Luckely I only played with that char for about 2-3 hours

I'm very cautionous now. When I no longer hear sound effects I restart the computer right away.

I'm experiencing this problem 100% of the time. At least my symptom sounds exactly like this. But even with corrupt (unusable) games still in the Savegames folder, I'm still able to Restore games that aren't corrupt. On trying to do a game restore of one of the corrupt saves, the whole computer goes down and restarts. Running Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600. Every one of my savegames becomes corrupt sooner or later. Depressing since I'm hooked on the game and despite knowing that the crash will come, I still form unhealthy attachments to the characters. Any advice?

If it would help at all, I've saved screenshots of the errors that pop up on system restart. This includes the Windows Error Report and Spybot's alert.

The game stores a backup of your last savegame in the savegames folder. You can rescue it by finding the backup file and renaming it to one of the savegame slots, for example sg00.wsg.
