This thread is for utilities you find useful in editing files, which can be helpful in editing or keeping track of mods.
Of course there's Effidian's Unofficial Mount&Blade Editor here.
Below are more general utilities.
My first suggestion is a utility for file/directory comparison and lets you track exactly what you've changed in a file by comparing it to a backup. There's an open source (free) program for this called WinMerge.

I personally use another slightly more intuitive program called UltraCompare that does the same basic thing, but it's not free. They do offer a free trial though.

My second suggestion is for an advanced find and replace utility to find text or binary within searched files. I don't know of a good free utility for this. I use a program called simple Search and Replace.

Anybody know of a good freeware utility to do this? And don't tell me Windows' built in Search function; searching within files doesn't work very well and misses a lot.
Anyway, if you know of another useful utility, here's the place to post it.
