Upper-class people=douches for real?

Pretty much. I know good lower class people, middle class people, and upper class people. I also know assholes in each group.

The upper class is pretty big though. It wouldn't surprise me if the upper end of the upper class, such as magnates, CEOs, and investors are mostly assholes, but people on the lower end of the upper class like doctors and scientists are far less likely to be.

Generally because people who owns huge amounts of money have to stomp over many to achieve that.

Other thought, people with lots of money = people with lots of power = people that influence heavily the life of the others.

If a CEO/magnate/whatever decides to be a douche, he'll mess with the lives of lots of people; a not so powerful douche won't be much of a nuisance, thus less noted.

P.S.: it's just my computer or Google is down?

****ing upper-class idiots always trying to put me down. But not much longer. The rise of the proletariat is coming and there will be blood!

I thought being a douchebag is how upper class people communicate with each other and the lesser world. It's just that they seem to take different stuff for granted. For example, I got this rich kid in my class who constantly sports a new gadget, an I**** or a new smartphone, every week. When someone says that their phone has a small crack in it or is just slow, his first reaction is usually "so why don't you buy a new one?" Everyone gives him the are-you-****ing-kidding-me look after that. On that note, I'd be interested in a research that studies whether upper class people have less common sense than others.

Then again, you don't need any perquisites to be an *******. Usually breathing is enough.
This reminds me of one of the chicks from a somewhat poor family in my school. Well, she classifies herself as poor. I, personally wouldn't call you poor until you had trouble with your basic needs (shelter, food etc.). Anyways, her family somehow has the money to buy all kinds of fancy stuff like Apple computers, Ipods, Iphones and whatnot. I suppose they just get it off the welfare money, but she's a douche like that.

I also have to agree with the people here who claim that every class has douches. In a similar manner you could ask if lower-class people are douchebags and you'd probably get pretty much the same answers. I know douchebags from all classes of society. Mind you, I live in a very socialist country where difference in wealth isn't huge (not as huge as people make it seem IMO) but yet I have the feeling that people from the upper middle class have a better upbringing. I'm not necessarily talking culture families here, just people who've been in the middle-class/upper middle-class for a generation or two.

Noooo, please don't go around town smashing windows, burning random things and generally being a nuisance.

Well at least that is what usually happens in Sweden when the leftist extremists and ANTIFA decide to fight the powers that be.

Well, you know, if you want to be something else than a douche you gotta smash things up and make life hard for people.

Lower class douches or semi-douches would have they doucheness multiplied proportionaly by the money and power given to them.
Doesn't compute captain.
Is the lower class more douchy? No. But their douchyness would multiply if they got monies. So it means they are douchy indeed.
But if they have monies and get douchy it means they are upper class. So they should be less douchy than the lower class.
Duuuuude...

There's a good word for those people in Swedish, no idea what it is in English, but those would be "nyrika", first generation people who make money quickly and don't know how to handle it. I'm not sure I agree with that guy, but I think that's what he's saying.

But if they are douchy and have 'monies', their doucheness won't be limited by the lack of money, so they could be potentially more douchy when rich.

If they get more douchy when they get monies then lower class is more douchy since they are only limited with lack of money.
But if they get monies they are upper class who should be less douchy by definition.

What's the literal translation of nyrika? Noveau riche has the same connotations in English.

Edit: Oh, new rich. Well there you go.

No, what I'm saying is that douches are douches no matter what class are they from; the only thing that differs a rich and a poor douche is that the rich douche is more resourceful.

It's like in a chicken cop. All of them chickens **** down their roosts, but the higher they are, more likely they'll **** in someone's head.

Essentially, the poorer douches fear the consequences of their douchiness and therefore pretend to be less douchey than they actually are. However, when they get the power to be douchey without consequences, or just know they can be douchey without anyone finding out it was them, then they will be douchey.

So, Bulle's conclusion that money causes people to be douches is flawed, and if there was actually some scientific method of identifying douches you would expect them to occur in the same proportion in each class. It's just that their behaviors would differ.

What you would need is to study a group of known douches and non-douches and steadily give each group more money and power. If the non-douches are unaffected or barely change, while the douches become steadily more douchey, then you would know for sure.

I know people who have plenty of money, but are really nice. And I know people who have very little money, and are really nice. I've experienced people who have plenty of money and are thoroughly unpleasant human beings, and I've experienced people who have very little money and are thoroughly unpleasant human beings. Snobbery isn't entirely confined to the 'upper' classes... they just have more practice at it.

Assholes are everywhere, they are international and transcend any race, political ideology, religion or economic status.

I have met people from lower classes who are complete assholes and I have met people who are upper class who are complete assholes.

Nobody is making the claim that all rich are assholes and all working class are ****ing saints. The argument is that on average its more likely that an upper class person is an ******* than a person from a lower class. There is a ****ing difference.

I stand by my opinion that such a statement is still overly board and rather biased.

As others have suggest as well the studies are far from infallible.

My problem is that even this "average upper class = more douchebag" claim sounds an awfully lot like all the classic biased bull**** arguments of "most ____ people are _____."

"Most Americans are stupid."

"Most Swedes are communists."

"Most Muslims are extremists."
