Upgrading Units?

OK, I did some searching and couldn't find the answer to this.

I have several units that are ready to be upgraded but when I try the upgrade button is grayed out.

Is there something else I need to be doing?

Not sure, but I think it may be because if you upgraded them they'd take up another slot in your party. Slots are limited.

Do you have a free party slot to accomodate the upgraded soldiers? If not you may have to wait until all of the soldiers in the unit are ready to upgrade, so that you don't exceed your allowed number of unit slots (as dictacted by your leadership score).
