Recruit
Is this that hard to give a soldier a sword and a shield ?

I look stupid with my peasant army....

And this is like this for every armies, even the kings, recruit peasants, but have no trained troops, or less...
I don't understand....

I think recruitment should be reworked. You should not have to manage recruitment, but settlements and towns should be automaticly generating new recruits, sending it into garnison automaticly, where they would get trained and gain experience.
That would look more likely realistic.

You dont seem to know how garrisons work...

Garrisons take food from your food storage in your city.

Unlimited people into your garrison means never ending depleted food storages which in turns means your garrison AND militia desert leaving you with an undefended city.

How recruits work is fine, they are easily upgradeable except for AI lords who still need some work.

I've never said there would not be a maximum limit.

Let's be honest, this is stupid you have to talk to civilians to ask them to send you troops.... I mean.... common civilians own the troops ? You need good relation to be able to buy them more troops ? Whatever the money u got ? So absurd.
No, it's a big problem. You should not be meant to go from town to town to recruit, this is a boring and not exciting task. This is not how it would work in real life. This is not the task of a lord. This should be automated. Troops should be automaticly recruited, I don't think any king have been from town to town the whole day to recruit 1 by 1 100% of its army... let's be objective a second.

This isn't the case at all. In feudal times, Kings absolutely would go from town to town to recruit their levies. As an example. King Harold, prior the battle at Stamford Bridge, recruited his army on the way to the battle. This was generally how most levies were recruited. "At this time King Harold was in Southern England, anticipating an invasion from France by William, Duke of Normandy, another contender for the English throne. Learning of the Norwegian invasion he headed north at great speed with his huscarls and as many thegns as he could gather, travelling day and night. "

Imperial recruitment for the byzantine empire was considerably different. The byzantines used the theme system which used a type of militia system of permanent soldiers that were trained.

"The term thema was ambiguous, referring both to a form of military tenure and to an administrative division. A theme was an arrangement of plots of land given for farming to the soldiers. The soldiers were still technically a military unit, under the command of a strategos, and they did not own the land they worked as it was still controlled by the state. Therefore, for its use the soldiers' pay was reduced. By accepting this proposition, the participants agreed that their descendants would also serve in the military and work in a theme, thus simultaneously reducing the need for unpopular conscription as well as cheaply maintaining the military. It also allowed for the settling of conquered lands, as there was always a substantial addition made to public lands during a conquest. "

It really isn't a big problem. What is annoying is having to train your troops on looters, but that could be fixed easily by making Raise the meek and the other leadership perk give scalable xp amounts instead of a low fixed amount.

I could be ok with some automatic recruitment feature for when you are king, but as others have said it would be very easy to mess the food distribution up. You probably will have to wait for a mod to be able to get that (and I am sure that someone will make that mod at some point).

I also am a bit amused by you being this outraged about this because it is literally how it worked in the previous Mount and Blade installments  so, honestly, what you are suggesting would feel really weird to any veteran MnB player. We like our villages.

Except they are not "common civilians", they are your notables, even kings needed them.

Yeah.... you're not wrong on this point.
This is still a task I don't like.... this is not how I would spend a huge part of my time : going from town to town to recruit. quite don't like it.
If I'm alone in this case, I'll pass on it. But I don't know if there are many like me, wanting this to change. Making it more real, u know ?

Only these militiamen were armed with shields and some degree of armor as well
