Yes. When you have a sea raider and a dark knight both ready to upgrade, you have an option to sacrifice them both to obtain the all mighty Nordic Hell Knight with horned helmet, fireball ranged attack, flame sword, and a scorpion tail.

WTF!!

I managed to get a couple of dark knights once.
They have a tendency to attack caravens at the start of the game. What I did was help the caravens to defeat the knights and then turn round and attack that caraven right away after the battle. Made a lot of enemies though as caravens remain hostile to u even after u paid their faction for "forgiveness".
However, those dark knights thend to stop attacking caravens and turn to peasants and refugees as the game goes on (chickens!).

And the only way to get peasant women or refugees into your army is by defeating opponents who have them as prisoners?

Should be some sort of refugee camp where you can hire them.
Note: since this isn't the suggestion forum the last sentence is a statement and not a suggestion.

Peasant women are easy enough to find, however. Certain raider quests give a large amount of them out.

If only there were a place to recruit them though...

Raider quests come often enough. Those yield 25-30 each time. Too bad it's hard to catch a new set of raiders if the peasant women from this time aren't leveled up.

Anyhow, I have a steady stream of sword sisters when I want them.

depends. I'd much rather have 40 marksmen backing me up... They're actually pretty accurate, too.

Im my first game I had a large group of Sword Sisters following me around. It was quite fun. Swandian knights are much easier to replace though.

Could some of the old hand compare the strenght and weaknesses of the different units (and upgrade trees?)

In my 2 serious games I noticed that the vergir horseman and knights and one lvl below their swabian counterparts, What about the other units?

What´s the advantage on infantry units (once you have the choice)?. The disadvanatge obvisously is slower map speed.

Archers shoot, well doh!, and advanced infantry is good at beating cavalry if you keep them together. Although dismounted Vaegir knights are almost as good as best infantry (against cavalry).

5 Marksmen + 5 Guards are usually able to take care of 20 Khergits without one's fighting. As long as you keep them at good position, that's it.

Are there any mounted archer units?

And also, does anyone here find watchmen awesome? They are pretty good at ranged, they have crossbows. And they aren't that bad at close combat. Nothing good, but they are easy to get and do well.

Wow... great work with that tree!

btw, does anyone have a pic of "Sword Sister" or "Hired Blade" never seen any... Just think that some nice refugee becomes something scary like "Sword Sister"

Yeah I have a soft spot in my heart for sword sisters. Always seem to raise up an army of these whenever I can.

GREEEEEEAT work, was looking for this

btw, maybe a little extra touch on the visuals and all would be perfect
