UPDATED: Sunday the 29th of May, 2005.
Hello,
First off, I'd like to give a little praise to the developers of this wonderful game being that this is my first post and all- this is the kind of game I've been dreaming of for years
. You've done a wonderful job and I hope you continue to improve and make the game better over the coming months and possibly even years!

Note: Any and all suggestions I have will be listed in this thread as I come up with them. I plan to keep this as a large archive of all my suggestions

I. Fairgrounds
Now, onto the subject at hand: I think a good addition to this game would be the addition of medieval 'fairgrounds' type games, like jousting and archery compititions to name a few (I am unaware of any more but if you have any other additions that could fit into the game, please share them!).
A: Jousting; Jousting should be your classic type of jousting- two knights run at eachother on horseback with heavy armor/ shields and jousting lances, but the point/ gold allocation should take into effect some things (if at all possible):
1) Area that a lance hits- such as a head shot should award more gold than a hit to the shield.
2) Number of damage inflicted- the greater amount of damage should also award the proportional amount of money.
3) Whether the knight is dismounted or not- this should award the most amount of gold. I am not exactly sure how the game would handle this, but I am certain that certain shield hits and definately a blow to the head would dismount a jousting knight.
Or we could simply go another path that is a type of tournament game where a knight will definately be dismounted and moves on to the 'next round' if they win. The knight would be awarded the winning cash prize (or even an item) at the end of the jousting tournament. I am not sure what would be the best but I'm sure with the help of other's insight we can work things out.
B: Archery; Now, another fairground type game should be an archery competition. This is fairly straightforward- various archers are lined up at a certain point and have a limited amount of arrows to fire at a target. The target would have multiple rings around it with outermost rings earning lesser points, the bullseye in the center awarding the most points, and a shot that misses the target completely would be awarded no points. The range between the target and archer increases by a substantial amount (to be determined) as the archers progress through the rounds. At the end of the round, the four archers (out of the total of ten at the begining, possibly) then move on to the next round. After this, two more are booted out, and we're left with the final two. Then, obviously, the final two go head-to-head to see who can get the most points with the given amount of arrows.
Now we're down to the question of 'How is the money allocated to the archers?' Well, to answer that quite honestly: I'm not sure. We can either go for the 'all or nothing' type tournament or the 'Out first round- x gold, Out second round- 3x gold, Winner - 10x gold' or some such thing. We could also do a combination of the two, whereas the player chooses whether to play a 'Round-based' tournament or a 'All or nothing' tournament.
C: Setting; Also, with the setting: I do not know where this games could take place, but a good place to put them would be in the capital of the two current factions (forgive me, but I do not know the capitals of the factions at the moment- just got the game yesterday).
Well, thats it for the first portion... onto the next!
II. Environment & Environmental Effects
I believe that this has been already talked about on the forums a bit, but I think it would add much to the immersion of the game if there were different environments. Some examples of these would be swamplands, vast deserts, and cold snowy areas. I would also like to see dynamic changes of weather, like mobile storm systems with real-world precipitation like snow, sleet, hail, and rain- though I'm sure snow and rain would do quite well. Also, to go along with these changes, the battlefield should also be changed- in a rain storm, visibility would be lowered, and in a storm of snow, it would be even harder to see.
With additional areas of climate, there should also be new factions added that would apply to these areas. Like in the vast deserts, an 'arabian' type of faction could be added, that would be heavily dependant on horses. In snowy areas, a 'nordic' race could be added that wore heavy furs and such.

Note I'll add more as I get more ideas. Thanks for your time in reading this (or any of it) and I look forward to any criticism/ thoughts/ insight on what I've discussed
.

III. Attributes alter appearance
This may be impossible with the current system or extremely hard to implement but I'll share my thoughts on this anyway (and it might not fit the game perfectly, but oh well). Attributes should alter a player's graphical appearance (like the game Fable).
Strength: this causes the player's muscles to (for lack of a better word) 'bulge' out.
Agility: this causes the player's general body shape to slim.
Charisma: Not sure about this one. Could possibly add more 'edit face' options such as beards/ hairstyles, eye colors, etc.
Intelligence: I have absolutely no idea of what this should do
.
IV. Housing & Dwellings: Players should be able to own and live in a comfy place that they can call home- there would be various 'upgrades' for these and would range from a small shack to a full estate. Guards can be placed here. Items should be able to be stored here. At later levels, a stable will be added onto the estate so that a player can keep horses at his or her estate.
V. Minor additions
A. Party
1. Upgradeable Equipment: Players should be able to simply click a button on the party screen that would upgrade the equipment of a particular group of soldiers. This would be costly and there would be multiple 'levels' or even possibly types of upgrades. One could choose to upgrade armor and weapons- each would have their own levels. Such as three levels of armor and three levels of weaponry upgrades.
These upgrades would only need to be done once for a class of soldiers- equipment upgrades would be retained; example: The player upgrades the weapons of his archers (they now have longbows). All of the archers die, but because of him or her already previously buying the equipment (and merely taking it back off of the archer's corpses) he or she is able to hire archers that are automatically equipped with longbows.

Will be added to as new ideas come up
. This section may have it's roman numeral changed so that it comes as the last section.
