Tryggverr
Recruit

This is my first post here, so I thought I should add something noteworthy. I'll mention that I've played M&B for about 75 hours, most of which through the Viking Conquest DLC. The native is almost completely free of bugs and glitches, with the occasional graphical error which is tolerable. When I first started playing VC, I owned a Macbook Pro and the bugs made it impossible to play. I've since upgraded to a better gaming PC and VC is running fairly well now (knock on wood) with a few isolated incidents that only required exiting to the map or going to a different game screen to fix. Therefore the bug I'm posting about is more for record keeping and less of me complaining about bugs.
I've been progressing through the storyline, and I had just finished the quest
So I clicked on the town from the map screen, and I immediately go into battle, no warning or text screen to tell me what for. I look around and I see that I've got a shield wall of around 25 or so Ragnars (Ragnar is my in-game name for this one) all standing still, who are exact duplicates of me. I was amused by this, so I tried to give them orders, but they wouldn't budge. I noticed that the town was in the distance, and a large band of ~100 enemies are charging out of it. They come up to these Ragnar clones and attack, but still those copies of me do nothing. I hack away at what appear to be farmers mixed with some well-armed men. My mouse goes dead about halfway through the battle, which is odd by itself as it's never done it before in this game, and I could see that it was still on. I had to switch to my trackpad, and for some reason I couldn't turn, so I was forced to face away from the village for the rest of the battle. Eventually all the Ragnars died and I had to go backwards along the edge of the map to finish of the last 40 or so enemies. I realized that some seemed a bit familiar, but I wasn't too sure.
I played along, and I managed to finish off all the ones I had charging at me. But the battlefield messages didn't tell me that I was victorious and could hit tab. So I thought maybe there was a straggler or something. I still couldn't turn, so I had to back up into the village. That's when I noticed a lone clone Ragnar in the middle, completely still. It was so weird, I walked around some more but I didn't see anyone else. I killed the clone (which took awhile, I tend to wear good armor) and then I was finally victorious. I left and I saw that the well-armed men that I slew were actually my own, and they were all under my casualties, 25 something casualties for players (which I assume is usually reserved for multiplayer) named Ragnar, and 50 some casualties for enemies which were farmers and such.
This seemed so peculiar, that I saw it less as a bug and more of a test to fight all my men and that of the town, and for my most murderous deeds I must finally kill myself. I exited the casualties screen, and another message popped up saying the village was thanking me for ridding it of bandits. I assume the glitch was something along the lines of there were supposed to be bandits to fight, but they instead filled the slots with my men and the villages, and to compensate for the loss, duplicated myself for my own side, but those duplicates have no given A.I. to use. It was around 2 in the morning when that happened so I saved and quit the game, because I felt it was slightly unsettling. I think I nicknamed the save file "Ragnar the Mad" to humor myself that my character must have been going crazy.
As I said before, I don't have many bugs, and I don't suspect this will be happening again any time soon. I didn't see anything like this with a simple search through the forums, but some bugs certainly have a story value to them. I hope this interests and/or helps the developers, it's really one of my favorite games, there's nothing quite like it. I hope in the future that the DLC will be free of it's graphical issues, but in the meantime it's understandable and playable. Let me know your thoughts!

where you had to go get that book from the monastery and bring it to the port master in Ribe. Afterwords I decided to roam a bit to recruit some men before heading to Sven's hideout and I stopped by the town nearest to his refuge first.
