Unused heros

Does anyone know if making the unused heroes/villains spawn at some arbitrary point in the world causes crashes? Say, for example, I use the editor to place 'ecatha the necromancer' at zendar center and I give him/her/it the hiring dialogue like in the recruit mod. Will the game crash when I go to zendar? Do I have to set something else to make it work? Or what if I change king harlaus' location to the thirsty lion instead of sargoth castle. Will he be there at the tavern? And will his conversation text be the same? I had some ideas for a mod where players can only hire heroes, but I need to be able to give lots of choice in heroes for that to happen.

Now that I think about it, this is a good time to ask if anyone even wants a mod like that. Basically, I would add a bunch of heroes skilled in various areas and disable all of the tavern keepers by setting their hire unit to null/none. That way, you would have to play using only the heroes scattered through the different towns.
 
Like Temujin said, the M7 mod is just for that, and it is great by the way. If you want this, you should try it. You can even choose if you want your 7 heros to be knights, berserkers or plainsmen.
 
i haven't actually played mag7 since i saw so many people complaining of bugs, so i didn't know what it is about. i might try it when the new version mentioned in the thread comes out

to add to that all heros mod that would be cool and hopefully all the cities become places you actually walk through and you could recruit the best of each city and become like soilders for hire and be powerful enough to take on groups 3 times your numbers since your so much more skilled

the poll tells me that at least some people want this, so i'll start work on it when i come back from vacation. hopefully the new version and mod tools will be out by then, because oherwise the work would be moot.
 
gaaahhhhh! i'm back from vacation, but the new version still isn't out. don't take this as complaining, though. i know that probably the developers found a large problem or wanted to put in a cool new feature that's holding them up a bit. i guess you guys will have to wait for the mod also. as long as i'm posting, i'll ask a question about content. what are everyone's thoughts on having a large number of heros where each has a unique specialty? more precisely, each one does a certain kind of combat best, and has the equipment for that job. i'm thinking have one hero that can only do one of each fighting type (1h, 2h, bow, xbow, throw) and more that can do multiple types, but not as well. i also wonder what you think about putting all the melee focused heros in swandian terittory (sp?) and the ranged attackers in veigir lands? or is it better to mix them randomly?
