Unofficial Warband Ventrilo Server

The people who join that server are either those who want to coordinate strategy or learn from the veterans.

No, those are just the people you think are using vent. There are people who want to play with their friends, and when every single beta tester wants to join vent, it's hard to talk to your friends. That channel is there for the first wave of beta testers who want to talk with the people they've been playing with the longest.

I kind of agree with Reilnur, a whole top secret super omega alpha omega gigantic clubhouse is kind of bleh.

I'd also like to suggest a rule against ghosting, it's really frustrating when the vent is split between teams having people constantly tell the location of you and it somewhat cheating in a way.

I've once played in a game where one specific player would hide somewhere on the map, it was up to the people with the spectate ability to find him before he forced an unhonorable draw for the round.

I talked to Styo in chat a few minutes ago, and I pointed out that moderates have the ability to mute people, so the voice-spammers can be stopped, in a more productive method than simply creating an exclusive channel.
And at Dairy, there are non-passworded channels for teams. People just haven't started using them yet.

Did you even read my post? I'm sure if that was the case then fine, nobody would care. Did you forget about the kick/ban finally working too?

I really have to agree concerning the private channel, I mean, it's not my vent server do what you want with it.
I was kind of under the impression that we we're all here to test warband, find bugs and communicate with one another to help taleworlds.

Vent has functions built in to kick people who are being obnoxious, and that seems like a much more elegant way to tell people to kindly shut up.

If we're going to continue on in this vein though might I request a room for "bug discussion/testing"? I don't want to trample people using the game/strategy channels and I wouldn't want to interrupt the super cool guys, but I would like to chat with other testers regarding our purpose here.

I just saw it for the first time today. Sorry I don't get on as often as I'd like to.

Look, if you want to have a separate channel for your cool club, I don't really care. But the general consensus here and on vent is that the name Old School Beta + Cool Guys is haphazardly elitist and off-putting to newcomers. Old School? As in 9 days older? I like playing with a regular group as much as anyone else, but I don't think its necessary to shut out new people who are interested in the same.

For now I've changed the name of that channel to 'Reserved for Private Use'. I don't care if you want to call it the Imbred Shindig Hoedown Room, as long as it doesn't send the message that we're a bunch of crotchity bastards with sticks up our asses because we were playing the beta a week and a half early. It doesn't make any sense to be that way.

Why don't we have the right to be with the people we KNOW we will have a fun time communicating with? I agree that it shouldnt be used constantly or solely. But frankly, we started it when we were the only ones on a server and people started to fill it. Furthermore, very few others besides the super old schoolers use the vent much. I would have switch the moment a person on my team on the server said something. But not a single person ever mentioned a peep.

Edit: Usually im against this kinda crap because usually im on the receiving end of the short stick. But, right before someone made this channel, I was in the 32 slot server with none of the old school guys. People told ME what was and wasn't a bug. They told ME what their view on what did what. They would not listen to me on any such subject. Or any subject at all for that matter. People don't listen to strategy. People started talking like they new the world and were "the ****". And I couldn't handle it for more than a couple of rounds. Didn't even last one map change. I snapped and started ranting like crazy when I saw styo and orion log in, which I appreciate them letting me do.

If people can prove to be big boys. They can join the big boy channel. But we "oldies" need some retreat. So one was made. I am not questioning anyone's access to the vent. Everyone deserves to use it. And I encourage anyone and everyone to use it. But it comes to a point where I know atleast I need to get away a little while.

I don't think anyone is disputing your right to do whatever you want, I think they're just saying it's a bit elitist and hardly welcoming to new players to see "sorry you're not cool enough to hang with the royalty". Also generally people WONT make a peep to people they feel are being elitist or unwelcoming, why would they even want to talk to you? I didn't make a peep because I figured the club was far too exclusive for me. I didnt mean to interrupt earlier by jumping in to the chat room forcing you all to lock it down. I had had a good time talking, sharing opinions and learning from you guys the last couple days and I didn't think i was being that obnoxious so I just jumped in.

If we were in full release or people had already established regular clans on the beta servers or something I could understand wanting your 'members only' club but being so exclusive during a beta test is really counterproductive to the mission at hand.

Listening to the players talk through Vent saddens me. I was not accepted/haven't been yet so I feel bad.

It sucked because I went on and everyone was in that channel but it had a password.

Yeah, were not any more. All you had to do was send atleast me a message via vent and let me know you didnt like it. Or in the game for that matter.

Lol, I did. I sent about 5 messages in game, I guess you didn't see them.

Agreed. Although I have come around to the conclusion that tighter integration of voice chat with the game would be a better thing (pub teams are often vastly improved with voice commands from a guy who has a clue, and they're who suffers in this situation.)

Indeed. However, it is their decision to not join vent to just listen. Whenever I say to join, people usually tell me to STFU and GTFO and I dont need vent, and vent is for losers, and other such things. So I just shrug and pwn them. Its their choice to not use it, its right there, its free. So let them suffer for their own problems.

Only problem is Taleworlds would most likely have to pay for that which would lead to the game being a higher price to buy, leading possibly to fewer people buying the game. Americas army 3 has teamspeak 3 integrated into the game and its probably the only thing that works flawlessly.

Yeah, voice chat is extremely important.

We always have one team that is the non vent team and the vent team. We always join the weaker team, but we use way more strategy and tend to do better.
Voice chat ingame would be fantastic so that everyone hears our commands.
