Unmounted combat video!

Users who are viewing this thread

I noticed quite a few people claiming that it is easy to get overwhelmed while on foot, and that there's not much you can do about it and such. So i decided to make a video of my unmounted solo character on 107% difficulty to show how viable a character build it makes. This is my first video, so take that into consideration before you tell me it sucks  Enjoy!

Sadly my poor horsie fell victim to the polygonal slide bug

:EDIT:
Ok, i hosted the file at RapidShare for better download speeds. Here's the link.

Can't you host it somewhere else? It takes approx 1 hour to downloado_O on broadband

The film is pretty neat! I can tell you have an high two-handed blade skill, and that your athletics is pretty high too, but still, that's a great job.

Also liked the background music touch

I suppose i could, but as i said, this is my first video. So if you have any suggestions on a better hosting site, it would be greatly appreciated. I had to go find a video that someone else had hosted to see what site they used to begin with  Thanks for the feedback guys!

Just a suggestion...

Edit:
Oh, and try compressing it into .rar or .zip as it takes much less space!

its not hard at all... at level 1 i could defeat mounted knights while only using a single handed sword and no shield!!... and I'm sure everyone here did that. It is only tough when there is about 10 mounted units around you and you are alone... you can't go out and slash one cuz you are always to the ground.

It is not like hard when your char is maxed out but it's tricky, especialy if you fighting 50 swadian knights and manatarms, it gets really annoying.
23.71MB? WHAT THE F***? THAT'S TOO BIG!

Pretty small file for the quality and lenght, actually.

As for the video itself: It was pretty cool, yeah, but doesn't really prove your points - at the high level you're obviously at, ANYTHING in the game is a breeze.. go and do the same with a lvl 6 char  Or against Dark Hunters or Khergits, for that matter..

I actually think it sucks that the upper limit on your abilities is so high. If you could never get your (combat) skills above what you'd have at lvl 25-30 or so, the later game would probably be more enjoyable.

Well, we might get an Xp removal cheat, when the game isn't offered for free anymore.

Well, i didn't make the video to say "look at how 1337 i am" or anything. It just seems that most people fight while mounted, and i haven't seen a video depicting nothing but foot combat. You all are right, its not that hard to dominate bandits on foot, especially with a high level character. Oh, and how do i compress the file? 24mb for a nearly 4min video of decent quality seems pretty good to me...but if there is a way to make it even smaller let me know.

I don't remember anyone claiming that beating a bunch of bandits with a lvl 50 character and top-notch equipment was particularly difficult, but it's still a nice video.

Exactly.

If you took out the same number of Dark Riders on your own then you'd have a point. If you could take out a party of Dark Riders on foot at level 10 then you'd really have a point.

DaLagga, the difficulty with being on foot is when you are rushed by a half dozen mounted units. You get knocked about and can barely stand up before another one is coming at you.

Unmounted combat is very easy in all other situations.

I took out a group of 20 dark knights with the same character under the same conditions. You guys have the wrong idea though. I didn't post that as though i accomplished some great feat. Alot of people can do it i'm sure, but alot can't, and alot have complained about the difficulty of unmounted combat. Thats all i'm saying.

I don't think people took it that way.. it's just that your point is lost when you use Superman to prove the feasibilty of a strategy. Few people ever play that high level characters; many or most seem to restart at lvl 30 or so, and many less fanatical player may never even have gotten a character to that level.

You can kick ass on foot when you're that powerful, yes. But when you need two or three hits to kill infantry and don't have any points into athletics, it's a tad more difficult (and more fun imo ). At that points it's much, much easier to fight mounted.

It's awsome DaLagga.

Besides the high-level thing, I noticed that he timed the attack really well. Enemy died in one hit, true. But it's completely different matter to dodge and hit so skillfully.

Yes, dodging is the key especially against mounted units. I can do that better now than before. Against footmen I am always moving around (strafe key) to avoid blows. I don't concentrate on one enemy at a time because then they can get behind you. I hit whoever I am closest to and keep my shield up.
