Resolved Unlocking forging parts (two handed maces)

Hi, new player here

I have always really liked the idea of two-handed maces.

Now I'm trying to unlock the parts that will make me able to forge my own two handed maces.

For what I have read googling similar issues, parts unlocked at the forge should be obtained with a lot of RNG, but I don't know if this is what is happening to me.

I tried to forge a lot of two-handed swords and, instead of getting random parts for any weapon, I got random parts BUT only for two-handed swords.

So I tried to forge tons of one-handed maces, hoping to to get, sooner or later, the mace parts that are used also for two-handed maces (especially mallets)... And all got were parts for one-handed axes (moreover they were blades for axes, not just handles)

*Sigh*

So... what should I forge to have the chance to unlock two-handed maces parts?

Is it normal that there are so few parts for two-handed maces?

Overall the 2h maces just have 4 parts in total.
So not really "exiting" weapon as it was in Warband.

As you say its rng to unlock all parts, and I've never noticed any luck by smelting anything special.

I do think it may be unlocked more frequently when your skill is 150++ think maybe 175.
Dont get me wrong I got some of the parts in some plays like very early on in my smithing.

So either make alot of 2h swords, and move the sliders on all parts fully, this will inflate the price, so when you craft it you have higher chance, but also when you smelt it later.


That said, this is prolly not the right part of the forums as this the one to report on bugs, and it dont sound from your description that its bugged, just you being either frustrated or impatient(not meant to be rude/harsh).

So just keep on crafting as I say or melt looted items, pick the right perks so its easier to learn recipes when you make'em and smelt'em

But its "frustrating to not get the desired unlocks".

My best tip is to be a merc if you dont want to join a faction(or cant yet) and just gather up weapons as loot, and instead of selling it, melt it to get unlocks and "free materials" to make new.


Khuzait and Aserai seems to have alot of good steel in most of their weapons.
Aserai you can get Thaskmane steel(or what its called, the best type of steel) sometimes.
Those weapons cost alot, so smelting them can often unlock 2-3 items.

Also doing the orders for ppl in towns, seems to unlock more, even if you cant make the item to specificiation, just try to get it as close as possible.
Say the order if its 100% will give you 11000 denars, but you cant make that good yet, you can make a decent one for 5k, which often take your skill up and unlock.

But again if you aim is for the maces, you can inspect those 2h in the smithy-menu, and see how they will look - imo they look like mallets used for "crocket"?(not sure on the spelling).

Hey, everytime you craft a weapon you get a research point and this point unlocks the crafting parts. What you craft is irrelevant to the unlock parts, so you can unlock every part with crafting the same item if you are patient enough. If you have suggestions about this, you can let us know in the suggestions secitons of our forums.
