Unlimited arrows and bolts

Have you noticed if you use TheMageLord's inventory tweak for sieges you get an unlimited supply of arrows/bolts? You don't even need to fill your inventory with ammo. All you need to do is go to inventory during siege to auto reload all your ammo.

Just felt like ranting. I felt stupid after I found out... Originally I filled 16 inventory slots with ammo. What a waste of slots and extra weight...

That'll be something you tell you grandchildren .

You could also access the inventory chest on battlefield and refill your quivers in much the same way too.

WHAT?!

Oh well. Now that I know, I'll be using those slots for food instead of ammo. No more munching arrows and bolts for dinner.

Eh, I consider it a pretty lame bug that you automatically refill your ammo when you access your inventory. It wasn't always like this.

Still doesn't make any sense. If that's the case, why are arrows so expensive if you just pull them out of your ass on command?

If you stand by your inventory in battle, you can have infinite shields/ammunition, as if you can magically conjure up a new shield out of thin air.

I've always believed that the chest was a symbol of your caravan, or at least a few ladened up pack horses. The chests needs to be a bit bigger.

If you're going to argue about pulling things out of thin air, where the hell do your troops get their equipment?  You're out marching around miles away from civilization and they magically get chain mail when you upgrade them.  Do your knights tame wild horses that they find...?

That's nonsense. Pulling things out of thin air is perfectly acceptable, look how FMP did it! No one had a problem of how the main character kept pulling canons and rifles seemingly out of nowhere.

Still, it really doesn't make sense. You buy one shield, and therefore you get infinite shields free. While the chest is the symbol of your caravan, you should only be able to use what you have... if you have nothing but one shield, and it gets broken, you shouldn't be able to go to your inventory and have it refreshed.

Besides, assuming you do fletch new arrows, how can you magically do it in mid-battle? It makes sense that you replenish your arrows after a battle, but not during a battle. And it also doesn't explain how different quivers are more expensive than other ones. Assuming you're just paying for a quiver, a bag of bodkins should cost little more than a bag of bent arrows.

One of numerous complaints that I have. A peasant shouldn't be able to magically turn obtain new equipment just because you spent a couple nights with 6 trainer skill. It's my belief that there should be upgrade costs for troops, but w/e, I play for the combat. Not everything needs to make sense. But the arrow issue is rather annoying.

That is a bit of a mystery.

It is possible that the chest is filled with arrows can it not? You could just grab the maximum that could fill up your quiver, and ride back out again.

I think I've also said that the arrow heads would likely be in the deal if you're not exactly buying the arrows themselves. Of course you'd also have to buy new heads at some point. Perhaps you're buying the patent for that type of arrow ?

Perhaps everyone in Calradia is an expert blacksmith?  They just manufacture all their own stuff...while they walk...or ride a horse.

Don't nitpick this, it's a stupid thing to argue about.  Having to carry around 4 shields or 5 extra things of arrows would be stupid and wasteful to you as a player.  The game is meant to be fun and it is.

Thou i can't imagine going shopping for new stuff everytime a recruit gets a upgrade.

recruit: Oi my lord! i need a new sword so i can be a militia!
killer-blead: f**k it, go get it yourself.

With arrows I always assume that those who are trained archers know how to fletch an arrow and broken arrows are recovered (for the arrow head).
That way you don't have to go to the merchants for each arrow.

You are right. I did Magelord's tweak in 0.960 and arrows / bolts got depleted as you were using them. So you would see a bag of arrows at 0 / 30. Then you had to put the void one in inventory and pick up a new one if you had it.
I did the same tweak in 1.011 and voilà! infinite ammo!
Not that i complain. It's useful and makes sense. For instance in siege defense where typically you would have plenty of projectiles and servants to bring them.
If you feel like its cheating then you can always bring other bags of arrows with you and once you access inventory change packs till you have 'new' ones.

i always assumed that troops got their stuff off defeated enemies. Isn't that what the equipment upgrade is supposed to symbolise? And surely replenishing arrows just means that you filled your quiver off the battle field (likewise with shields)?

There is no chest at your starting point in a siege but it's possible with a small change to open the inventory (see the stickies with TheMageLord's tweaks).
