Units have too much athletics, in general

I find it bothersome that mid level characters who I have specifically trained in athletics still managed to be outpaced by every Tom, ****, and Harry that ever decided to take up soldiering in Calradia, even though they're frequently carrying much heavier armor than I am.

My typical getup consists of light leather armor, leather gloves, light leather boots, bastard sword, and round shield. Meanwhile some asshat nord NPC shows up wearing full chainmail, a war axe, throwing axes, a helmet, boots, mail gloves, and a much heavier shield, and yet he still can keep up with me. It's nonsense.

Even well trained troops don't need their current 7 ranks in athletics. Not all good soldiers need to have the skills of an olympic runner.

Discuss.

They don't mean to have so many ranks in Athletics, it's just that while your lazy arse is on a horse all the time, they're walking for hundreds of kilometres in mail, they naturally build up their Athletics  :P

Maybe I remember wrong but Nord Huscarls and Rhodok Sharpshooters have the highest athletics and that is "just" 6 points (and both of them are encumbered by their armor and shields).
